VACOped Short is the shorter and lighter version of VACOped. Thanks to the integrated VACO12 technology, this orthosis adapts perfectly to the foot and ankle. VACOped Short allows not only immobilisation of the ankle, but also a defined range of motion (ROM) from 15° of dorsal extension to 20° of plantar flexion.

Vacuum Technology
VACO12 technology is the core technology of the VACO Products. A cushion filled with thousands of styrofoam pearls is surrounding the injured body parts. By the perfectly round shape of the pearls they can absorb 12 times the pressure each. When air is extracted from the cushion by using a pump, the body shaped cushion becomes hard (as a cast does), just in a few seconds. By opening the valve and letting air flowing inside the cushion, it becomes soft again and can be re-adjusted to the body part. Hence the Vacuum Technology avoids pressure to the body site and provides stability due to a perfectly shaped orthosis at any time.

Can you use this for a Achilles tendon rupture? I had surgery & I am in a boot but the boot is too bulky….

Yes, achilles tendon ruptures are an indication to be treated with VACOped Short. But due to its smaller size VACOped Short only offers range of motion up to 20° - in contrary the regular VACOped offers range of motion up to 30°. Please talk to your treating doctor if using VACOped Short is a possible achilles tendon rupture treatment for you!
