I have since altered the design on this to make it easier to set up, will be making an easier to make and set up version in the near future. If anyone is after some design plans or ideas for building their own please don't hesitate to contact me through the link in the description.

Hey what type of sheet plastic are you using?
@benkrygsheld

Couple of tips if you ever wanna do another. 1) Put a piece of wood over the top of your plastic while it heats up. This heats the plastic to a more uniform temperature and gives you a better copy with more detail. 2) Heat the plastic longer. You want a nice even dip in the plastic so it looks like a shallow bowl. 3) Place the plastic on top of your master, then turn the vacuum on. I don't know why this works to be honest, but it was recommended to me and it does indeed make a world of difference.

Benjamin Krygsheld I've watched a couple of these vaccuform demos and the one thing they don't do is to brush a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the buck. This makes releasing the plastic so much easier.

Been experimenting with a few things with this, it was only ever made for the template to make applying makeup easier but since then I have used it for quite a few other projects. I ve found filling in gaps with bits of hard clay and elevating the mold a bit more help a lot. With the heating system I am using it doesnt really go much further in bowing unless left for about 15 minutes or so but mostly sits at the same level for quite a long time - fix for this would be getting something hotter which i may consider in the future.

ThomasTheSailor Chubby I seriously doubt he bought it. It looks as though that was plaster. I am a fellow artist and have experimented with plaster. And that is about what the face of anyone minus various details based off your personal details will look like in plaster form.

It is a copy of my face; I used plaster bandages on my face itself to get the negative and the poured in hydrostone - a type of plaster cement - into it to get the head casting I used for vac forming.

@@haydenkoorey7605 be careful, many kinds of plaster heat up when setting and you can be burned severely.

Hi. Some questions: How many watts does your heater run at? Where do you buy the plastic sheets from and what thickness are the sheets you are using? What type of plastic is it? What size do you make the edges that hold the plastic in place - it seems 30mm or so ? What are you using to draw the vacuum? Do you have a webpage other than facebook?
@haydenkoorey7605
@haydenkoorey7605 6 жыл бұрын
I use 3mm styrene held in frame by about 25-30mm with a rubber seal gasket (the likes you use to put on a door seal) that I purchased from a plastic supplier I sourced locally. Usually you can get sheets precut from a supplier relatively cheap. The vacuum is a shop vac, the heating is done via two 1200W quartz heaters. I just use a facebook page.

Good, I liked your video, as it is called the white sheet that you used to mold your face. I do not speak English for that reason if you mention it in the video I do not understand it. Thank you

The plastic is styrene also known as HIPS (high impact polystyrene) that I got from a local plastics supplier. You will have to ask around your own local plastic suppliers if they have sheets they will sell onto you.

@haydenkoorey7605
@haydenkoorey7605 5 жыл бұрын
It is made out of hydrostone plaster (ten times the compressive strength of regular plaster so I wouldn't lose detail) that I made after making a mould of my face. Any plaster will work as long as it can retain detail and not crumble, I typically find basic plaster of paris is a bit too chalky for what I wanted but fine if you just want a basic face shape.
