!st year ive had industrial nylon trimmer chord degrade, cut a length, tie a knot and snap, thinking petrol fumes, might carry the spool in a sealed bag. Thanks mate.

Can you re-use the bag? There are some good cheap reusable bags on aliexpress that come with a small manual pump. I'd rather not use a plastic bag and throw it away every time I need a spool of filament...

No, if you cut the bag another 50mm longer, you could in-theory vac, slice it open at the seal, revac the now slightly shorter bag etc. 3 or 4 times. That said, it's low-density polyethylene and highly and easily recycled plastic I'm using.
