The problem with this is once you start moving around vacuuming, the end of the hose that is connected to the vacuum adapter plate moves and lifts the plate, the suction in the housing sucks the plate sideways into the housing, and before you know it the housing is filled with air. I am dreading TRYING to do this for the first time this season. I’ve spent so much money on a vacuum and the adapter plate, and I’m sure I’m probably going to have to spend more money to come up with a solution that works for more than 30 seconds into vacuuming. Someone once told me pools are a lot of work.... now I get it... ugghhhh. Glad this worked for you, but I had no luck. I’m ready to go back to the “disposable” type pool...lol.
@GuidingBoltGaming4 жыл бұрын
That's surprising that you're having that issue. Once the pump starts the suction should hold the plate in place, and it has a little ridge for the plate to rest on. Is the vacuum adapter plate you're using the stock one, or did you purchase a replacement? I'm just wondering if it's not the stock plate if maybe it's to small and possibly for one of the other SFX pools.

I can’t thank you enough for posting this video and my unbelievable luck for finding it here on you tube. Quick and easy and my pool is vacuumed and ready. I have a 20’ X 48” round Summer Waves Elite pool. I switched to the poly group sand filter ( bought at Menards $150) since they are the makers of the pool. It seems to be doing a good job and I didn’t have to make any modifications to the tubing to get things connected.

@GuidingBoltGaming4 жыл бұрын
Ugh, that stinks! Make sure your hoses, collection basket, etc. is as clear as possible from debris before you start. Also, if you have a lot of debris in your pool you may need to stop mid vacuum to clear stuff out. Otherwise, as all the debris build up it reduces water flow and creates a lot more suction within the hoses/tank. Good luck!

Hello! Thank you for the great video! It helped out A lot! But I have a question: I have the exact same set up as you with the pumps. Hi I also have the same set up (the salt system tho) and hook up my vacuum the same way. The problem I have is after I get some good suction the pump suction is so hard that the canister actually empties out and I lose the suction in the hose. I have even tried to keep the garden hose over the top to make sure it stays submerged in water. I’m getting ready to try to bypass the canister completely and try hooking up the vacuum hose to the pump.

I DID IT!!!! Woohooo and it works beautifully. I bought an Replacement hose adapter A w/ collar for threaded connection pumps. Comes in a pack of 2. All I did was push the vacuum hose on to that used a metal clamp to keep it secure and screwed it directly on the pre filter basket on the pump. I would suggest the same if filling the hose with water from a garden hose but unscrew the air release on top of the basket lid as you fill up the hose. Once it’s full close the air screw and start vacuuming! (I have my plumber valve on the canister closed of course) You might need a longer hose depending on the size of your pool. I hope my explanation was ok. Not being able to post a picture makes a little difficult lol maybe I should make a video 🤷🏻♀️ I hope this helps you guys out!

So I have the same setup and I hooked up my vacuum the same way. It was working well but then as I was vacuuming my filter started collapsing because the large leaves that were getting sucked up got stuck were the motor is in the skimmer on the side of the pool. How do you keep the large leaves from clogging up the filter hose. Should I fish those out of the pool first and only use the vacuum for the small stuff?
@GuidingBoltGaming4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jana - Couple things you could try. First off if you still have the old skimmer motor in there try picking up the conversion kit to get some more room at the bottom of the tank (amzn.to/2VkYtXZ). If you've already done that then you could try cutting out the plastic "+" that's at the bottom of the pump where the hose connects. Depending on the size of the leaves removing that may make all the difference. If it's getting caught in the collection basket connected to the Intex then I would try and scoop out the huge ones before you vacuum or pick yourself up a pool cover to try and prevent the larger debris from getting in there at all.

We have a summer waves 17’ we just got the skimmer vacuum insert and we have a water way sand filter. We tried this whole concept last night and every time we got the hose filled with water and hooked up to the skimmer the auction would be great for a few seconds then it would seem to slow and then bog down our pump? Do you have your filter on the “filter” setting or a bypass to pool? We are just learning. Wonder if the suction is too much or what not?
@GuidingBoltGaming4 жыл бұрын
I keep it on filter when I vacuum the pool. It sounds like you're either getting air in the system still, or it's pulling the water to quickly and then the pump dials back. You could try adding a little more water to the pool. Notice in my thumbnail picture the water is over the vacuum insert. That will help make sure you don't get any air in the system when you hook the hose up and flip it on.

Hey Jen - The vacuum part is actually part of the Summer Waves pool set (not part of Intex). So you should have good suction when using it even with the original skimmer/pump. You'll just have to clean out the paper filter once you're done cause it's going to get dirty..

Did you keep the white basket in the pump or did you take it out to put in the adapter piece??
@GuidingBoltGaming4 жыл бұрын
I usually keep the original collection basket in. Then I don't have to clean out the collection basket on the Intex pump as often. However, if you have a large amount of debris in your pool I would remote it. Otherwise, it may become clogged and the Intex filter will keep pumping and may damage your side tank from the pressure.
@ashleymccarthy99834 жыл бұрын
I'm so frustrated because my filter I have the same setup as you by the way. The water turns into a tornado and makes a sucking noise and it's really weird do you know why that's happening
@GuidingBoltGaming4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the pump is draining the water out to quickly. Be careful when that happens, it could cause damage to the tank on the side of the pool if the suction is to great. You may want to try and add more water to the pool, so it's over the top of the vacuum attachment that sits on top of the tank. Sometimes if my water level is low from the kids playing in the pool I will get the suction noise.
