The mystery of how vacuum is generated in our vacuum system is explained!
But sadly because of a clog! 😓
Check out the awesome vacuumator along with the engine newbie, as always step by step.
Awaiting new adventures of the engine room.

Nice!!! But, What will you do if there is no vacuum in the toilet, but it is everything ok with the pump?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 5 жыл бұрын
My mental mentor! It's so nice to see a comment from you.. Well if the pump and suction chamber are OK, then there are a few reasons why I can think of a lack of vacuum in the system. 1)if it's localized in port or starboard then maybe some smart newbie forgot to open port or starboard sewage inlet valves or engine room overhead pipelines are clogged because no one flushed it. 2)if it's localized to a few cabins I'd have to check on the deck pipeline diagram and see if they share a vacuum accumulator (I want to show that in my gamazyne video)... Maybe some smart guy flushed a rag or something and clogged it. Could you put some other ideas Prof. Andrei? Haha

One thing that all engineers can agree on - None want to work on a sewage plant.
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 3 жыл бұрын
Hahahaha I guess so bro! However that same repulsion made me want to try to explain it better to newbies so they are not so afraid.. And thankfully if everyone uses bacteria even in toilets (like Gamazyme or other aerobic bacteria in my other video) then the smells are not so bad! Rotten food in the grease traps are a lot worse than in the sewage system believe it or not!

I'm a licenced aircraft maintenance engineer with more than 25 years on the job, so I probably am the equivalent of your chief engineer. But I see man similarities between marine and aeronautical engineering (this is why I'm watching channels like yours). It seems that in both fields the most junior ones get the most disgusting and dirty jobs. E.g. maintenance of the toilet system of an aircraft is usually also the job of the most junior techs, as is lubrication (of flight controls and landing gear with a grease gun, another job where you usually end up covered in stinking grease). 😀😁

Did you close the sewage inlet valve while performing priming of the vacumator?and did you manually start the pump after the suction and pressure chamber filled of water?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I closed the inlet valve (no incoming sewage 😂) however after flushing I closed the pump inlet valve and allowed sewage to flow to the second pump. I manually stated the pump as soon as fresh water started to flow to ensure anything stuck is flushed out too.

What could be the reasons for vacuum toilet pump' s motor overload trip?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply! But to trouble shoot it would probably be something impeding the rotor from moving such as stuck bearing or something jamming the impeller

I feel a little bit misterious in our vaccum system....sometimes the pressure was dropping down to zero that leads to the engr to close some valves going to accomodation,but when we open the closed valve again, we see that the pressure is stable enough....then after 6 to 10 hrs or 24 hrs the pressure dropped again....we inspected all the lines and the toilets but we have not found any leaks,..we cannot understand why the pressure is dropping down.....
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 11 ай бұрын
that is very strange amigo, I really hate the fact that in the vaccum system one must be like a detective and search all over for the solution..maybe it could be the flap that sometimes does not seal properly on the vacuum pump however the real source can be many things.
@rukkus151

May i ask to you about this vacum jet, my vacum jet has a little bit trouble, the automatic vacum jet can not stop if water in glass not reach of mark, so how to repair this pump? Thank you.
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark Жыл бұрын
If the water in glass does not reach a mark...? The pump should stop when vaccum cut point of the pressure transmitter is reached. From what you tell me that water level will cause the pump to stop MAYBE means that the water reaches the rubber flap and creates a SEAL.. Which then means the RUBBER FLAP non return valve is not sealing correctly and you should change or clean/smooth. I hope this is the case because it is an easy fix, success and nothing else
@denizci75
@denizci75 3 ай бұрын
There is no water left in the pump glass and it cannot create vacuum. What do you think is the reason?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 3 ай бұрын
It could be various things, does it lose all water suddenly or is it something gradual? If there are standby pumps does this happen to all pumps or just one is specific? Do the pumps run frequently due to suspected vacuum leak?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 3 ай бұрын
This is because if it is just one pump you can check the flap in case it is clogged with something, if there is a vacuum leak in the acomodation it will cause the vacuum pumps to run without the toilets giving new water to the line causing the pipeline to be dry (there may be a connection to connect a hose and prime the line for flush the toilets full of water various times. Just some ideas, remote troubleshooting is always difficult.
@connarbexon2994
@connarbexon2994 4 жыл бұрын
Where do you get the O-rings and rubber from?
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 4 жыл бұрын
Greetings Connar! All spare parts (not just for this pump for about all equipment in the engine room) are ordered by part number (found in manual) to the company and the company orders requisitions from shore (by the manufacturer or shipyard, etc)
@ShrimptoShark
@ShrimptoShark 4 жыл бұрын
Something important to note is that it's the engineers duty and responsability to order enough spares for the voyage.. If you run out of spares make a requisition and if the company does not supply.. Then you either make a creative solution or hopefully there is a spare pump/equipment (usallly all things on the vessel come in pairs for non stop operation even when in maintance.)
