I have a “dumb” random nav robot and it does a great job, but it is oddly satisfying and fun to watch it bounce around and if you have a bit of visible debris, it’s fun to try and predict when it’ll finally pick it up and when it does, it’s almost like watching a sport! I get lowkey excited when it picks stuff up! Yes, I know I’m a boring person😂

@@SimonWoodburyForget Me either, you basically either spending more time actually cleaning with a vacuum or just cleaning up the robot itself. With a quality "dumb" vacuum it just make sense to spend the 20 or so minutes a week or so to do the vacuuming than to spend the same amount of time and frequency if not more cleaning it, emptying it and so on. Also likely spending more money while your at it.

Best purchase of my life was my Deebot 930. I got hardwood floors with rugs and 1 carpet bedroom, high thresholds and it’s so powerful it nearly launches itself over them to get into bedrooms. I’ve noticed it also gets more clever over time and it figured out how to get up the threshold to my dinning room and navigates around the chairs better and better every time. With hardwood floor you notice when there’s a tiny bit of dirt on the floor and I hate the feeling of it on my feet, I run my robot daily and my floors have never been cleaner.

I had the 1st gen Roomba for many years, and it was good to OK, technology being what it was back then. I now have one of the lower end Neato vac's (I upgraded the battery to the bigger one from the higher priced vac) and it is an amazing piece of technology. We have 2 large dogs and a cat, and we run it every day. It fills up the bin every time, but because of that we rarely have to break out the big vac. Are they worth it? To us - YES.

Definitely worth it. The S5 Max is one of the best purchases I have done. We run it daily and our 160m² house is done in about one hour. We used to vacuum 1-2 times a week before but the floors and carpets looks way cleaner now with the robot. The mopping function also works great. Sure it's not as effective as a dedicated steamer, but since you can have it done on a daily basis its not needed. And the little bastard is quite smart.

i7+ here and for us it is a game changer. We have porcelain floors throughout our home. The bedrooms look like wood and the rest of the home has textured surfaces. The i7 does an amazing job and get all the pet hair to boot, we have 2 dogs. It has made dusting almost a thing of the past. Dusting is a once a month job and you have to really look hard to find any. Its ability to empty itself makes usage a breeze. It also has the ability to mark on the map where you want it to keep out. It also works well with our smart home voice system. Just tell roomba to vacuum a certain room and off it goes. I can also control it where ever I am. If guest are coming over tonight, I can have the fridge make more ice and have roomba clean the guest bath, entry, reading room, and living room.

@sleepysera
@sleepysera 4 жыл бұрын
@@rickytorres9089 Cleaning it 20 min a week doesn't even come close to the amount of time you spend cleaning up after cats and their hair without it. If you really wanna keep the place clean, you lose a good 1 hour or more A DAY cleaning cat hair out of your place manually. So spending a few minutes every weekend to brush cat hair out of the roomba's brushes and filters is overall a lot less work.

My parents got the Roborock and I had to help them set up the app. It’s pretty useful and the app makes it so easy to navigate it. They have wooden floors and now they barely clean it themselves. The vacuum also has a mop adapter/feature, and it works pretty well for like 80% of stuff on the floor. As for cleaning the robot. It’s pretty easy for the most part, I would prefer just cleaning that than the whole house and moving the couch to get underneath. Oh yeah that’s also a great thing. This robot fits under the couch and picks up all the dust from there. I think for my parents it was worth it, mainly because their backs can’t afford to be cleaning.

Love your channel (a vacuum channel that I love, who knew?) Just wondering if you might be able to add a "black carpet" test to your methodology? Loving... wait, liking my Deebot, but the black throw rug is killing its ability to clean in our dining room. I tried the white paper trick, but that didn't work for me. (might be how I put them on, since I couldn't find pics of anybody handling a 900 or 930 series in this manner, but have read a few reports that it is a way to do it, nothing as positive as the Roomba community fixes) But, even if I did get it to work, it shouldn't be that I have to disable a sensor myself to get it to work properly. I've even heard the Deebot spool up for carpet detect at the dark edge border, then back up onto the hardwood floor... I would think it could go "oh, I detected carpet, must just be black carpet!) Keep up the testing!

bought one of these for our house, Eufy 11. Wife was sick and needed some helps so I figured it could help out. found I had to baby sit it when it was cleaning due to getting stuck all the time. worked great for grouted tile floors and hardwood but worthless on carpet. Bought a turbo hard canister upright. Found out that the robvacs were not cleaning at all on the carpet. Amazing at how much crap the new upright pulled out of the carpet. I moved the vacbot to the garage and on smooth concrete it does a great job, often cleaning places where I can't get to such as under vehicles. Really catches a lot of fine dust that I didn't have the patience to clean before. I now have 2 of these in the garage and they keep it neat as a pin. Except when, like the puking dog, I get an oil leak.

I bought a Neato D5 after watching your videos, i say they are more than worth it in every way. A human is lazy by nature, we like to slouch around. Asking a person to use a cleaner for more than 30 minute at a time is a chore and most wouldn't do that each day.

Honestly I like acuuming manually but I almost never have enough time to do that. The only time I can really do that is when the children are in bed and unfortunately I wouldn't be able to clean their rooms then. And for this reason we recently bought a D5 too. We had a bit of a "bad start" with the D5 because I had some unfortunate problems (like getting stuck on different objects because the laser didn't saw them but the bumper sensor just went under them) but after working arround this issues and creating my virtual barriers in the app it works really good. You still need to prepare the house for cleaning by putting things away where the robot could get stuck or simply to have cleaned under themn but it's about 5 minutes of work and then you can let him do the job whenever you like. I think that's just what we wanted.

Easy calculation for me. How much time do I spend a week vacuuming? 20-30 Minutes, if I want my appartment to be cleaner, I need more. How much do you earn per hour? With 30 minutes/week thats 2 hours/month saved. Lets say you only earn 10 euro per hour, thats 20 per month saved. Thats what your time is worth AT LEAST (for me, I value my free time way more). If you earn more, it gets even more favorable. My roomba has been cleaning my appartment since 2013 now, so around 7 years, at least saving me 240euros in time per year. That would have been 1480 euros, of which I spent... 30 euros? On new brushes, dust filters etc. Electricity ... I have no idea, cant be too much though, at least not much more than a regular vacuum would have needed. The cost of a roomba is not even close to 1,5k. I got mine for about 350 if i remember correctly (sales at the time) and he's STILL kickin. Except for some corners which are blicked by furniture, my floor looks like you could eat off of it. Best investment in my life so far. Get one that gets the job done (if its shitty its not worth ANY money), think long term, and its an extremely good deal. All my friends have been sceptical, but every single one I convinced never wants to live without one anymore.

This falls for the same fallacies I've encountered so often before with robot vacuum reviews. Robot vacuums do not need to clean a house on the first pass. The whole point is they require almost zero labour to operate so they can be used much more frequently than a manual vacuum with less human effort. So it may take a week of daily use to achieve the results of a day's intensive hand vacuuming, it does not matter. Give it a month and you will start to appreciate why folks like me would never go back to regular manual house vacuuming. In the first month you discover those places where they they can get hung up and you arrange things to avoid that particular fail happening again.Sure for special situations like a split flour bag catastrophe or cleaning the car manual is the way to go but for regular house cleaning you can't beat them. I've had my primitive iRobt for over a decade, it's poorly, made, it was expensive and I've had to replace a burnt out current sense resistor once (with a higher wattage one) but overall it has been great.

Before my robot vacuum, I vacuumed once every two weeks if I'm feeling diligent. Now, it gets vacuumed twice a week... It doesn't need to deep clean. My problem is if the thing doesn't have enough battery life to get to the whole floor, and every time it starts up, it vacuums the same area instead of the area that it didn't vacuum last time.

@dogphlap6749
@dogphlap6749 4 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeMonet What are you talking about ? My manual Vax vacuum cleaner takes 2kW, the Roomba takes 22V DC at 1.25A which is 27.5 Watts or 1.375% as much as a typical barrel vacuum (that is the charger rating). So I could run my Roomba 73 days consecutively for the same amount of electricity it takes to run my Vax once (I'm making the assumption here that I would use the Vax for the same time it takes to charge my Roomba, which I think, lacking more detailed data, is a reasonable assumption). I have 4.3kW of solar PV on the roof of my house, I drive an electric car which is plugged in at home when not in use and I still get a $3000 check from AGL for electricity I feed back to the grid in excess of the power I use from them, every year. I don't think I'm wasting electricity.

Vacuum cleaners are available in third-world countries, and as Ingenium mentioned, Japan is very much a first-world country. You take your shoes off before coming into the house; that would sure make the floor a lot cleaner than otherwise. Also it's not the size of a house which dictates whether someone buys a vacuum or not, but the amount of carpet area that needs dirt cleaning. If you can pick up the rugs for cleaning, you can avoid the vacuum, but if you have carpet, it's disgusting unless you vacuum it.

One thing nobody seems to mention is that when you vacuum you don't get your hands covered in filth. When you empty out the robot's bin it's pretty much impossible to do it without ending up covered in dirt/dust/etc. Also you have to constantly ensure there's nothing on the floor that can get stuck. You aren't going to get much benefit from them if you have kids and/or pets, if you leave your shoes on the floor, or you're just not obsessive about keeping your floors barren (after all the whole reason for wanting a robot is "I don't want to spend my time cleaning.") Every time ours runs I have to go manually fix it (and get my hands covered in filth each time) because it gets stuck on cords, or shoelaces, or a lego, or a cat toy.
