@@jmacho54now there’s the V15S submarine, V15S submarine absolute in addition to V15 and V15 Absolute, they should’ve just given a different name as this is priced closer to Gen5 detect and makes it unclear to many what the top of the range is. But I'm glad its that contained though. I've never owned a wet and dry vacuum and when I first saw this and considering getting the first thing that came to mind was I dont care if it tucks tons of water up, if I had to clean the entire passage of that suction, which includes a hard to clean parts it would defeat having that feature. I'd just mop is with a mop or a cloth and itll be so much more convenient to clean up a spill that way than using a vacuum. I'm assuming they're used for those that vacuums their house everyday, there are going to be very fine dust covering the floor quickly and people who does that usually mops their house fairly and this would be great for that daily maintenance, but I wish it had tested it with some hairs, be ause even if there isnt large debris on it you're bound to get some hair, especially longer hair

I just swapped my V15 Detect for the V15 Submarine. Yes it's a big price for an addition but I have since mopped my place several times within minutes and it so SO good when you have pets. Dyson is one of the only brands where I am pretty much buying blind and never have been disappointed so far. I also must say that I was surprised by Dyson's customer service, at least here in germany. I had a problem where the Vacuum told me to clean the filter which didn't go away. They sent me an entire new main body and I got to keep the old one. I bought a second battery and now I have two fully functional dysons, one for downstairs and one for upstairs to clean the bed.

What type of floors have you used this on? I have tiles in the bathroom but the rest of the house is engineered laminate 'wooden' boards (German made). I know I cannot use steam cleaners on them because it will damage them as they are made up of very thin layers of wood.

With long hair dog the mechanical parts on each side of the soft roller gets clogged with MASIVE amount of hair and the two little floor wheels also gets jammed after every use. I spent more time cleaning the roller than vacuum so I had to stop using it. I wish Dyson would just put the laser on the Motor Head that performs as well as the soft roller head based on the tests while also able to operate on carpets without swapping. Motor Head with Laser + Submarine Head + Low Reach Adapter is all I need from Dyson.

These haven’t been available to buy as spares from Dyson for as long as I’ve owned my V15, but the Dyson rep I called promised me that the purple filters are identical in all respects…except for colour. She also checked with their technical dept after making that claim, and they agreed. I ended up buying the purple one for a backup filter 🤷‍♂️

I just bought this today. I think the mop attachment is meant to replace traditional stick mop and bucket and its not meant to be used for picking up large dry debris (something that you wouldn't do with a mop anyway). Vacuum first, mop after. In case of spill spillage, pick up big chunks with tissue and then use this (just like how you would do with a manual mop).

Thank you for the informative review! I saw an ad today about the Dyson submarine and liked the idea, so started more research about it. I have a Dyson V10 and love it for everyday use! For mopping often use my Bissel Crosswave wet vacuum. About Bissel love the vacuum but needs cleaning the vacuum after and drying it before putting away, so most of the time use just a mop. The reason I bought Bissel, is to skip vacuuming before mopping the floor... Definitely, the Dyson V15s Detect Submarine is not for us. The main reason, is the attachment only mopping the floor without vacuuming.

So basically the mop attachment can be sloted into a wand, into a 3D printed handle with batteries in it connected directly to the power teminals and it would have the same effect. No wonder they dont sell it separately. Seems almost trivial to get it working without a Dyson. That is unless it doesn't operate without communicating to the vacuum (they are doing some communication which allows the vacuum to stop its suction)

We have recently purchased this vacuum; hubby bought it. I find it too heavy, I don’t like that the trigger needs to be held the whole time, which causes hand strain for me. Most of all I find it won’t reach under furniture that sits low on the floor, and as we have hard floors that’s where lots of dust and hair gathers.
@jovanap752
@jovanap752 10 ай бұрын
Agree. My mom can't use it because it is heavy and you have to use the button to work which for old people or young children might not work. It does t pick any debris. For dry debris, you have to vacuum, fpr wet debris you have to clean yourself by hand first so people with dogs, babies, mud.....I recommend against it

my main issue with dysons is they’re so expensive I can never bring myself to pay RRP so for me they’re a ‘couple of seasons old on discount’ option. Our V8 is still going. @TinkerTailorSoldier1
@TinkerTailorSoldier1 11 ай бұрын
@@scpatl4now It most certainly is debatable. I personally think they would be able to move a $300/$400 mop head by itself rather than a whole new system. However, if it is a programming issue, how do you think they can rectify that? The older vacuums don’t have wifi. They can’t send a firmware update OTA. That means everyone would have to send their vacuums in and someone would have to hand program or swap out chips. Even if people paid for it, what would be easier… normal operations for a new product launch that they’ve done several times before… …ooooor handling thousands if not tens of thousands of units coming in and out and having to have an American or European staff to make the changes. If not domestically, send them back to the Philippines where they were made? No, just have a new product.
@towo7100
@towo7100 11 ай бұрын
I don't think it could be retrofit easily. For this attachment to work, the vacuum needs to supply power to the floor head without the suction motor running. Older Dyson vacuums most likely weren't designed/programmed to be able to do that since there wasn't a reason for them to ever turn off the suction motor prior to the release of this attachment.

I have both Shark Vertex Pro and Shark Stratos and I love both although the Stratos seems to have slightly more power and longer battery but either way they’re both a win! After trying many stick vacs, one being the Ryobi with double roller bars, the Sharks are hands down the absolute best for dog hair! I have a mini Aussie and a Husky Aussie mix, both of which shed constantly and especially during seasonal changes and have literally destroyed stick vacs like the Ryobi double bar with their intense fur. And yes, I always check my rollers to be sure nothing is tangled and the Ryobi was so bad I returned it as the motor stopped turning on after it’d clog or tangle, it clogged constantly over hair and I’d have to disassemble the damn thing but the absolute worst were the rollers would be so tangled I had to cut the hair out and rip it off as best I could to maintain… with the Sharks I’ve never had a clog, it seems to clean well and doesn’t eat rugs and has never tangled even during shedding season and my two have double coats so that’s really saying something. Sharks one downfall is it struggles to suck up on the sides but does better in the front but I’ll take that over tangles. Btw I just received my Black and Decker hand vac Flex with the dog hair tool that I think only QVC is selling… love it! It’s pretty powerful, I haven’t run it long enough to drain the battery because it’s powerful and makes cleaning quick but for me their little invention with the dog hair tool that’s this simple rubber thing with a hole in the center actually works! It works so well I won’t order anything else without that exact same dog hair tool! It’s super light weight, easy to hold with a stretchy hose but that dog tool makes it worth it over other hand vacs! I was skeptical but damn with a little manual back and forth motion that tool somehow gets the hair lifted off furniture or clothing or bedding and sucks it up like it’s nothing. FYI if someone needs a hand vac and dog hair management this is it!

Just to let you all know that the runtimes shown here are not based on the average user in the home and after having the machine for several months!! I have a V15 and I only get around 18 - 20 minutes when using on carpets!! What is not mentioned anywhere here is that batteries degrade over time and so the user will not get the same run time they did when the machine is brand new. Run time as a handheld on Medium mode is 40 minutes when new and then reduces to around 33 minutes and this will reduce further as the battery wears. Another issue I have encountered is the DLS Dynamic Load Sensor does not work the same when the filter gets dirty, so result in the particle counter showing the machine picking up significantly less than when the filter is washed. The Dynamic Load Sensor stops detecting that I am on carpets as the filter gets dirty and so stays on the 'hard floor setting' resulting in poorer performance. So proves that Dyson do lose suction as the filter pores clog, just like how a bag vacuum loses suction as the pores clog. I feel that I have been lied to by Dyson all these years with their No Loss Of Suction claims!!

So one thing I think you covered but want to confirm. Since it is two stage, does this model work just as well attaching the vacuum head and then attacking the submarine head for mopping. In other words, you don’t have to buy the v15 vacuum then the submarine one. As the sub can do both jobs just changing the heads. (I’m super confused and bad at articulating, apologies😂)

Can you add some type of cleaning solution to the submarine (like pine sol etc..) but diluted instead of just pure water?

I suspected the flexible hose in Dyson motorized heads was multi-purpose: the obvious role as a hose for the suction, but I suspected a secondary role as a "spring." Since there is no suction on the Submarine head, but they include the flexible hose, now I know!

Do you have a video on how to detect if your battery is going on the Dyson? I have had a Dyson for 5 years and I think the battery is going but I’m not sure and I don’t want to spend 150 bucks on a battery if that’s not the issue. I have done all their tests that Dyson recommends online and every time I do a test the result is different so I had to come to vacuum wars with your vast knowledge of Dyson vacuums to ask. Thanks in advance 😊

I'm sure I read when this was announced that it would be compatible with existing v15 detect vacuums and would be able to be purchased as an attachment. To discover that it's not is very disappointing.

For me Dyson models are quite heavy. I think heavy part of vacuumer should be on the bottom, not on the top. I think it's a good idea to test it in the offline shop first. There are cheeper mops by the way.

Can't find the Absolute version anywhere? That built-in dusting/crevice attachment is almost more interesting than the Submarine part. Edit: Also, your affiliate link is sending me to a Dyson V12 Amazon UK page.

The Submarine mop head does look good. However, considering the limitations Chris pointed out, the fact that it doesn't use the Dyson's suction, and that you can't just put it on any other Dyson stick vacuum, this isn't worth the money. Better off buying a cheaper Dyson stick and one of the generic Dyson mop attachments sold by various Chinese manufacturers, they likely would be every bit as good at mopping as the Submarine mop head.
