Palp and plagus messed around trying to manipulate the force, the force got angry and made ani out of revenge, palp and plagus were already planning the taking over the republic and turning it against the jedi plan but when palp became the chancellor he then killed plagus and got his new apprentice death mall over time, fast fworred to ep 1 palp sends dath mall to kill the jedi that are protecting padme and learns about ani, palp sends mall to kill the jedi, mall kills qui gon during the dule of fates meaning that's when anis fate is sealed, obi slices mall in half, palups thinking mall is dead or just not really caring about him makes duku his new apprentice but realey he is just a puppit and gets him to set up the cloans but palps starts grooming ani for the dark side and to one day replace doku so yes palps dose put in an exception in the inhibitor chips for ani

Number 1. Palpatine wouldn't risk having an invulnerable Anakin who didn't turn to the dark side. He simply told the troops of the 501 not to attack Anakin.

If the second theory is correct, I'd imagine that Palps had an order for just Anakin to be targeted, just in case things go awry. If his plans to turn Anakin to the dark side didn't go well, Anakin would've been too dangerous and Palps would take precautions for such a possibility.

Its way easier to think Palp had Ani in his plans from then. The chips excluding him makes sense. Palp had already planned Ani's turn from the jedi down to several possoble senarios. But considering the novels he also knew that if Ani refused him in those senarios he would most likly have to die by his hands at that moment. So its not hard to believe he had hik excluded because he would be on his side or dead in Palps eyes.

The new inqusitor book revealed that for some jedi that palpatine suspected of falling to the dark side he had given the clones the order to give them an ultimatum of joining or dying, which is how the first inquisitors were recruited. Maybe something similar happened to Anakin.

I like the second theory wayyyy more because it’s more like Palpatine, to protect his investments and Anakin was very much an investment on his part. Just as Sidious protected Maul from Plaguis by telling him he was just an assassin Sidious hired he protected his apprentice from an early felling. If Anakin was exterminated along with all the other Jedi Palpatine’s plan might have worked but his over all plan would have failed because even though Vader was marred and half a man he was still much more powerful than any other force user that palpatine came across thus seeing him as the only one who could succeed him and take the throne of Sith Lord and Emperor of the galaxy.

We see from a later scene that Palpatine is retelling the "Jedi's assassination attempt" at the Senate chamber to denounce them and their order as traitors, but only the latter part of the speech was heard. Obviously before that he was praising Anakin Skywalker's loyalty to the Republic and how only this one noble Jedi General chose to fight against his seditious fellows to foil their coup. It needed to be known where he stood in this crisis. The official story wired to the chip-controlled clones would be that Anakin Skywalker is on their side, no longer of the Jedi Order but instead a proven loyal member of the Grand Republic Army. In the end, Mace and co.'s well-meaning attempt to bring down the secret Sith Lord wearing the face of the Republic's Supreme Chancellor was done in the most ill-advised manner possible, showcasing both how overly zealous they were and how much the Clone Wars had corrupted their vision.

Palpatine did have it planned cause it was planned for Maul to kill ObiWon and his master but ObiWon foiled his plan by killing Maul so he remade it for Grevis to kill him multiple times but ObiWon came on top every time so then Palpatine knew ObiWon was a raodblock for his plan. And if Yoda and ObiWon swiched places then Yoda would have destroyed Anakin because he killed the younglings and ObiWon was in his OP Mode so Palpatine would have been easy work for ObiWon

They were given special orders from the Chancellor that both Maul and Ahsoka should be considered Jedi and executed. Them being Jedi for the purposes of order 66 is unimportant when the clones had specific orders to execute them as part of order 66.

​@thecollinanderson I've always wondered why Ahsoka was targeted when she left the Jedi Order after proving she was innocent but a part of me believes Palpatine did it for two reasons, reason 1 being that he showed an angry look because Anakin found the real culprit and Palpatine wasn't able to have Ahsoka executed and reason 2 was that he had a feeling that if Ahsoka got to Anakin then she would be able to bring him back to the light side as there have been theories and what-ifs on Ahsoka bringing Anakin back as she was one of the people Anakin really cared about besides Padmé and Obi-Wan of course, even if Anakin screamed he hated Obi-Wan before burning alive so that's what I believe was the reason the Clones tried to kill Ahsoka even if she wasn't a jedi anymore

It's also important to note the distinction between the film and legends version of events. In legends, there were no inhibitor chips, clones were simply taught each of the protocols and acted on their own volition with regards to eradicating the Jedi. Because of this, it would have been very simple for Palpatine to tell the clones that they were also to follow Anakin's orders.

I did always notice and find it strange that Tup never specifically targeted Anakin while I was watching Clone Wars, but that would make sense for Palpatine to have done that like 50 steps ahead of time. But this begs the question: if Palpatine had the chips programmed to not target Anakin, why did he make an order that would make the clones specifically execute Anakin during his time as Darth Vader after Revenge of the Sith (I believe I found the info from a cannon comic, but I forgot the source)

It was mentioned that Jedi were marked for execution and that's why Ahsoka got attacked too. They literally said that she is marked for execution by the order 66 for treason against the Republic. So Anakin was never marked for execution by order 66 as he was always Palpatine's most valuable asset.
