Great review. I really like that you zoom out and show how much table space is needed. Not everyone has a specific game table and many play on regular dining table (like me) so to know how much space is needed is nice to include in the review.

Thanks! That’s exactly why I do it. I’m glad you found that helpful. SBGK

You were the reason I was looking for the game and I finally found it the other day. I haven't been able to play it yet but after watching this video I'm even more excited to play it :)

You’re going to love it! It took me a while to find it too when it first released but it was well worth the wait! Enjoy it! The art alone makes the game a bunch of fun. The gameplay backs it up! I’m excited for you!

Great introduction to this review You are doing a really great job with your channel. I have been wanting to do a gaming channel for two years now but keep procrastinating. When I heard your story of doing this so early into the hobby really inspired to kick my own ass into gear and do this. Hope to game with you some day!

Thank you! Honestly, you only need a camera (nothing fancy) and passion for the hobby. Go for it! Maybe one day at a convention, we can play a game!

Vagrantsong has been on my "will I or won't I" list for a while. Designers are familiar to me via their miniatures game, so I knew to expect the game. I guess I was slightly putoff by the campaign. Just my preference in games. Not that I won't play them, but existence of a campaign is enough to give me pause. But it has been reviewed well, I can see myself enjoying the mechanisms of play. Maybe some day.

@@NikoTeaJay I understand. Lately, it’s been really tough for me to have the time to play campaign games. I love campaign games but I like when there is an option to play scenarios as a one-off. In their recent Kickstarter, they added an expansion that allows you to play Vagrantsong’s scenarios as a one-off.

May I ask what is the size of coin capsules did you use for the tokens?
@SoloBoardGamingKnight2 жыл бұрын
The coin capsules I used were a bit too big (25mm). However, the actual coin capsule size is 22mm. The only coin capsules I found that aren’t expensive were here on Amazon Prettyia 100pcs Plastic Coin Capsules Round Coins Holder 22mm Clear Storage Container Protective Case a.co/d/4RT0Z7n The thing with these is that the seller has an iffy rating in the recent past and it won’t deliver until mid to late July. Hope this helps!

How is the replay on this game? Is it going to be spoiled after the first run through or is the idea something that you can keep coming back to?
@SoloBoardGamingKnight2 жыл бұрын
To be honest, once you play the campaign, you will have seen and experienced most of what the game has to offer. I say “most” because there are certain things that happen throughout scenarios that you may not be able to search for or experience (certain events) because you didn’t expect it or unlock it. On a repeat plays, if you expect it or know what to do, you can be prepared to move to the section where the event/situation occurs or do what is necessary to unlock events. In this way, there is replayability with certain choices you can make during the camp phase (purchasing different abilities and making different choices that lead to slightly different outcomes) but I’m not sure it will drastically change the core game. Personally, I felt that there was more than enough content to justify owning the game. I can come back a year or two from now and forget most of the happenings and enjoy playing it again. The gameplay is very enjoyable and worth experiencing again, especially if you play with different Vagrants. Also, the scenarios were varied and highly enjoyable. Vagrantsong will be in my “Top 10” of 2022! Great gameplay loop, art, mechanics and scenarios. Fighting (helping) Haints was incredibly fun and engaging. Yes, it doesn’t have infinite replayability but at over 20 hours of engaging and enjoyable gameplay, it’s worth the price of admission. If replayability is what you’re looking for, I’d like to recommend Adventure Tactics. The leveling-up mechanics of that game is amongst the best I have ever experienced in a board game. It has a variety of classes that you can level-up and you can even become proficient in multiple classes at once. The campaign is shorter but repeat plays are very welcoming due to the variety of classes you can choose from. It really changes the way you play each character. There’s even branching paths, as well (after the second play, you will have seen it all). The only issue I had with Adventure Tactics is the amount of table space used to play it. The character boards take up a lot of space. Vagrantsong, however, really respects your table space and it is a lot easier to handle and play because of that. I hope this helps!
