Been listening to Jimi Hendrix for over 50 years, bootlegs, official releases, out takes, etc and I had never heard this before June of 2022. Jimi never ceases to amaze me. Who else is on this besides Jimi and B.B.?

Sounds like it could be BB singing and talking on "It's My Own Fault," both the tone of the voice and what he might actually say while performing. Guitar tone and style is a different story. Buddy Guy, Al Kooper and Elvin Bishop were supposed to be there too and they are all still alive. Somebody should ask them.

The first two tunes to this day are iconic for me , like a rolling stone has the most beautiful major solo. As far as Paul Butterfield being here … listen to the harmonica! He was one of the most accomplished blues harmonicists ever! Listen to some of his earlier releases. One video to really see is the Monterey Pop Festival 1967. He was extraordinary! He was a really great bluesman, singing & harmonica! Don't have musicians like this now. Thank you KZbin for having the biggest juke box in the world!

Paul was bad ass all the way. He respected the great blues artist, but never took a back seat to them. When Paul felt it was time to step up front and play, he did, didn't trample over the music, and never disrespectful.

43:05 - while this player has some incredible Ideas/Chops (although quite jumbled-up & choppy - as if he's recalling every Lick he ever learned, etc.), B.B. King never played that many Notes & was incredibly Smooth - with his signature fast "V-8 Vibrato" (my personal description). This sounds like someone who was heavily influenced by B.B. & many others, but had yet to get that Vibrato down.

BB DOES play. Listen closely. The first half of this is mostly blues. The second half is more psychedelic. But BB is playing on this album! Again, LISTEN CLOSELY! Remember, BB was only able to play or sing, but not at the same time. Not to take anything away from BB! He had an amazing impact on blues and the music world. He was a great entertainer and great musician and many musicians and artists looked up to him and respected him and his music and contribution to music. But there are none who can come up to the way Jimi played. No one can. He was a magician musically who no one could figure out exactly how he played. There have been a few who have come close but they have their own style. I wish I had the opportunity to see Jimi in concert. But I did have the chance to see BB King play many times. He was always good and his concerts were always different. The best one I saw with BB was in Atlanta GA in 1989 … Fabulous Thunderbirds, Joe Cocker, Stevie Ray Vaughan. When BB came on stage he called out Kim Wilson (harmonica player/lead singer) Fabulous TBs, Joe Cocker and SRV. And they jammed for about 2 hours! Pretty much the best concert I've ever attended! Can't say any more! Keep enjoying music in all its variations. You'll be surprised what you might hear!
