With each Sideswipe it seems like the companies are getting more understanding of his Animation model and making it as close as possible while making him still able to transform And an evolution from Masterpiece Sideswipe to Badcube Sideswipe and now DX9 Sideswipe, for me it really looks so streamlined

The design and engineering has advanced so much that the classic MP is starting to look like the equivalent of a G1 toy in comparison. Though that still has it's charm.

Had g1 as a kid and i loved that figure. Have both mp versions and was thinking about this one too. It's amazing how like the g1 cartoon this guy is.

I honestly think that this figure feels more like its based off how sideswipe would look in Skybound's comics rather than the g1 cartoon. There's just some slight proportional differences and design changes from the cartoon model

Blue headlights are actually turn signal and driving indicators. It has pop up headlights directly behind them. There's a tiny tab I can see to pull them up with, I think.

He looks awesome! I was hoping for the longest time that Takara would do an updated version of the lambo characters, but I guess that won’t be happening. I have been considering getting some 3rd party figures, but having the official ones have always been a part of the MP collection for me. Especially since I keep the boxes as well and I like consistency LOL. Hopefully Takara will do more G1 MP figures though, but I’m not holding my breath while waiting anymore. The good news however is that I can use my MP budget on other figures. 2024 brought a stop to at least 3 toylines (that I can remember) that I used to collect. Life as a collector got a little less stressful to me LOL!

One thing I'm taking away from this is that the original Sideswipe MP has aged incredibly well, it STILL looks really really nice. But then I've always found the "halfway between G1 toy and animation accurate" look of older MPs appealing. Being able to turn his jackhammer parts into warpicks is a neat idea, I like that, good show DX9.

It’s like each version of sideswipe gets more refined but this one still has what seems to be “squashed turtle syndrome”. The alt mode, and even the robot mode to an extent, seem very flat. Especially as a car. And yeah those headlights are a letdown. So which company will be able to combine the best of all versions?

not sure why you complain about flexing things, even official figures have some flexing like SS-86 Optimus, the panel that goes between the wheels on the front requires the wheel assembly to flex out slightly

You should go back to always starting in alt mode. It's so much better. The JTIs can be for the people who want to see the other way. Ignore that KZbin poll thing. Going from robot to alt is insanely anticlimactic.

This one is sort of ok but the parts and transformation seems really flimsy like it could just break at the slightest mistake. I really prefer mine . Mine is Better.
