Why aren't more doctors like you? No doctor I've ever been to has been interested in hearing all my problems. They only want to treat each symptom individually.

@@macintoshimann9892 - Very true. I had a surgeon get mad at me for Googling my problem. I told him that if it weren'tfor Google I wouldn't even be in his office. He had the audacity to say (in a condescending tone), "I'm going to have to correct you right there". Il looked at him and told him, "Who do you think you are to treat me like that" and I left his office immediately. Our medical system is so full of these arrogant jerks who just want to make money off people and not address the root cause of their medical issues. It's near impossible to find a doctor you can trust.

This is phenomenal information. I'm a manual therapist, in practice 26 years. I am going to start checking all my client's uvula's immediately and really look at the causative factors for their cervical ligament laxity, treat what I can, and educate on exercise and postural practices as well. Wish you were in Michigan, but I will refer those who are candidates for the prolotherapy to you. I looked in the mirror and saw that my uvula is deviated to the left. I have chronic asthma, and over the last few years with extremely stressful situations ongoingly, have developed extreme fatigue and difficulty sleeping. Of course I have chronic cervical stiffness and pain. Gonna get serious about that self care. Thank you SO SO much for your time and effort to create these presentations! All manual therapists and doctors need to learn this!! What the heck. God bless!

I have been saying for quite some time to doctors I have seen, that I was in a car accident ( @ 19yrs of age) that damaged my cervical spine and that perhaps the illnesses that I experienced since then (now 65) primarily come from damage to my Vagus Nerve. Some replied "maybe". Not sure how PT can help without fMRI though. I guess I've watched too many episodes of House.

Since you’re a manual therapist, check out Chikly Health Institute for the brain curriculum. All the curricula are fabulous, but the brain curriculum is outstanding. Brain 4 is all about the nuclei for cranial nerves. Barral Institute also has amazing manual therapy curricula. I found this video while preparing for the vagus nerve/ANS class coming up at the end of this week. My partner for the class (and she’s taken lots of Chikly and Barral classes in manual therapy) is an amazing therapist in West Bloomfield, MI.

Are you suggesting that metencephalon regulates diencephalon and mesencephalon? A principle in neurology is the area above inhibits the area below. Diencephalon is far more diversely collateralized than metencephalon. I have always considered the vagal centers perpetuating, rather than initiating variables. I have always considered intimacy with Yaweh interpreted in entorhinal cortex, which indeed fires into vagal centers. This, again suggests the vagal centers are intermediate, rather than root or primary generators of the symptomatic conditions you discuss. The enteric nervous system has authority delegated by rostral control from diencephalon and mesencephalon. "Look up", suggests mesencephalic mechanisms. The closest metencephalic analog may be utricular structures into the vestibular apparatus. I say, burn all the boxes and set GOD free from our constructs born of the knowledge od good and evil. God is the rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM. SELAH

Good luck in finding someone in Canada to help with your health issues! I lived in Ontario Canada and had a hard time finding a doctor who would listen to me, all they wanted to do was diagnose me with high cholesterol meds, BP and BS meds as well. It seems like this is the common trio of disease that they love to say that you have but would look know further to see if there might be another cause for your health issues.

I have struggled with each and every one of these issues for my entire adult life, and now that I think about it, my childhood chronic illnesses could have been caused by “military neck” -not to mention the tens of thousands of hours of pain and dollars lost in an effort to fix it. I wish medicine were more responsive to simple solutions like cervical instability and vagus nerve issues as the common sense etiology of most stubborn and/or mysterious causes of chronic illness.

Now my neck doesn't pop and seems more stable. I've also received around 100 Rolfing sessions over many years. My Rolfing therapist is who referred me to Dr. Alderman. Thank you so much for your video. I'm from Ontario Canada and I am dealing with a lot of these issues hopelessly. I have visual snow, palinapsia, tinnitus, virtigo and throat tightness an no one's bin able to tell me why. I've had CT scans done on my brain bin to optometrist ear neck and throat specialist and not one doctor that I've seen has checked out my neck and throat. How do I get the doctors to understand that it's not just in my head. I wish I could go to Florida and see you lots of love to you and the many sufferers out there dealing with this with no answers.

I am hoping in the near future that regenerative medicine and real solutions such as these will become a consistent practice of mainstream medicine. I feel like the current policies of only providing symptom management are a form of discrimination, essentially a way of forcing those with genetically determined conditions to wear a scarlet letter to enforce natural selection.....but the reality is that there is no one free of genetically determined health issues, every family has them. There is no such thing as a perfect genome and diversity is the only way to ensure success of a species. What may seem like a disadvantage to some may be necessary for survival of others or even the species one day.....Insurance companies not covering regenerative medicine is a cruel and inhumane practice and needs to be exposed for what it is...😢

Hi Timothy, We understand that costs can be a limiting factor, as we are not in-network. Many patients with private insurance report receiving a portion reimbursed or applied to their out-of-network deductible, however any programs like Medicare/Medicaid are not eligible for coverage. Most of the time, for chronic pain management, insurance-based practices can only offer pain medication, limited PT, cortisone injections, and some surgeries. Therefore, to receive care outside of that box, it is considered out of network. We always have our prices on our website to give people an idea of what the testing and treatment costs are, as we do want people to be aware and can make an informed decision: www.caringmedical.com/for-patients/pricing-and-payment-policies/ Wish you all the best in health and navigating options to help get you back to where you want to be.

A spine guy, with some good perspectives on - and appreciation for - structure / function / damage versus pain, all having relationships between each other that are much less straightforward than commonly assumed in mainstream. Similarly, thoughts on Thomas Myers (Anatomy trains)? The mixture of terms used by different individuals may be variable, however, it all comes down to the same tissues ... ligaments, far from being isolated from each other, are part of the unitary system of fascia.

Thanks so much for this helpful video! I suspect something might be wrong with my vagus nerve, potentially affected by the neck. Thus, I did an MRI of the cervical spine recently, but the neurologist said that it looks fine. However, I'm wondering if there is something that might not be visible on that MRI? Is a pressure/compression/stretching of the vagus nerve identifiable on an MRI at all, or might the MRI look normal while there is actually still something wrong? Would appreciate any guidance!!

Absolutely the same with me. Two bad accidents in my late teens and early 20's led to years of neck issues and chiropractic care. I gave up on the chiropractor when I stopped feeling better after. Then a ridiculous whip-lash injury on a roller-coaster that caused blinding pain in the base of my head and dizziness. My doctor just said to ice and rest. I have felt my health deteriorate ever since. It's been 6 years and I still have pressure in the back of my head with ringing in my ears. I clench my teeth in my sleep. I get "foggier" all the time. It's awful, and no one understands. I KNOW it's from that last injury. I've just never felt right since.

Hi John, Thanks for sharing your story and sorry to hear what you've been going through. We understand that the ER would not specialize in chronic conditions related to this, and we hear about these situations very often. It usually takes someone seeing a specialist to get to the bottom of it. We recently put out some other videos specifically related to the phrenic nerve, not sure if you saw them already, but you may want to check them out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4LOmGSBZa6Fb7s. Yesterday, we posted a video of a patient of ours who had struggled with breathing as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3uVgpyApalgi7M There may be something to help you and your local medical team explore some other possibilities. If you would like our team to review your case and see if you sound like a good candidate for our center, we'd be happy to help. What are your thoughts on tense muscles causing the vertebral issues?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 4 жыл бұрын
Hi blippyy, Great question. Very commonly people are told by a physical therapist or another provider that this is the case. However, in chronic muscle spasms/tension cases that do not resolve with physical therapy, massage, or other muscle-based treatments, you have to look deeper. The muscles are chronically tight because they need to overcompensate for loose/damaged ligaments in order to protect the joint. In the spine especially, there is so much precious real estate that must be protected in order to protect life itself (spinal cord and vagus nerve, for instance). Thus, the muscles must stabilize/limit joint movement because the ligaments have lost their ability to do this. This is not the duty that muscles are meant to perform, however, and become very painful and tight because of it. Thus, to resolve the issue, among many other symptoms most people with muscle tightness along the spine usually have, the ligaments must be addressed. This is done with Prolotherapy. We have some other videos on this, including the upper cervical webinar and on muscle spasms in general. If you would like to discuss your case specifically, we would suggest emailing drhauser@caringmedical.com directly. Thanks for reaching out.

@@CaringmedicalProlotherapy ..ok thanks. So 1. Vertebral squashing of discs CAN be from tense muscles? And 2. Why are the ligaments sometimes loose/damaged?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 4 жыл бұрын
@@blippyy4177 Common disc problems like degeneration/bulging/herniation are not from muscles, it is a ligament issue as well. The ligaments can become overstretched/damaged in many ways. sometimes trauma like a whiplash or fall, or over time from poor posture, overuse, and ligament CREEP. We discuss this more on our website and research articles, if you are interested. Chronic muscle tension is a symptom, not a cause.
@blippyy4177

@@CaringmedicalProlotherapy ...buy the muscles cross the disc spaces. And if the muscles are tense...this affects the disc by squashing it. Wouldn't you agree?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 4 жыл бұрын
@@blippyy4177 We look at it differently, and try to find out why muscles are chronically tense, understanding how the ligamento-muscular reflex comes into the picture. For patients, there are multiple tests that can be performed whether physical assessment, digitial motion x-ray, or ultrasound while stressing the joints, etc. to determine the cause of pain and symptoms. The discs themselves do not often play as big of a role as people think.
