The vagus nerve are the main nerves of your #parasympatheticnervoussystem . This system controls specific body functions like digestion, heart rate, and your immune system.
When your body is under stress, you are under a #sympathetic state. Stimulating your vagus nerve can help promote relaxation in the body, improve digestion, decrease stress and anxiety, and decrease blood pressure and heart rate.
The vagus nerve innervates the SA node of the heart, which is also referred to as our pacemaker. It also sits inside the lung tissue and passes through the diaphragm. Doing a sternal release can help activate the vagus nerve. Place a soft coregeous ball under your sternum, and breathe into and out from the ball.
