Can’t agree. I’ve been grading for 30 years and have tractors with down pressure and without. If your finish grading with a MF without down pressure you’ll love it. But if you need to rip some hard ground, you’ll love the down pressure as with the New Holland. If you’re using a single shank ripper to rip deeper to loosen compacted soil for a pasture or garden that holds water too long, takes days to soak in, you’ll want the down pressure. I have never had a problem with loosing traction as you can ease up on the down pressure. On the flip side, if you’re finish grading or spinning out an area the MF without down pressure will float across the ground and not leave gouges and wind rows. Try them both before you buy. There is always something you will discover that you won’t like or that you wish for. Good luck

I had an Allis 750 with hydraulic down pressure and found it to be very helpful when using a box blade. I could get the blade to cut in hard ground by applying a LITTLE down pressure to get it to bite with still enough traction to do the job.
@VahrenbergImplement
@VahrenbergImplement 2 жыл бұрын
What is an Allis 750? That wasn't a model of Farm Tractor from Allis Chalmers. They had 7050 but it did not have hydraulic down pressure. Just like you mentioned if too much down pressure you loose traction. That is why they don't put down pressure on farm tractors.

Great video. I have a newer Bobcat 45 hp tractor that had a box scraper- I converted it to a pull behind grader(can be seen on my channel DotyBirdBuilds). You cleared up some questions I had and never mentioned a float position on the 3pt. which I do not think exists on these compact tractors-hence why I converted the scraper into a grader.
@VahrenbergImplement
@VahrenbergImplement 7 ай бұрын
Since 3 Point Hitch Systems do not have down pressure the implements like box blades follow the ground contours and can float up if riding over a ridge. That is why Weight is very important in selecting the right 3 Point Implements...too light and they will just bounce and do no work. You have to match the implements to the tractor to get the best performance of both items.

That's the exact reason why modern 3 point systems do not use down pressure as you lose traction when applying too much and the tires comes off the ground.

Is Belarus even still in business? I haven't seen a Belarus dealer in North America or Our Area for 30+ Years. But lifting the rear off the ground loses all traction and not very good to get work done if the tractor has no traction.

@VahrenbergImplement
@VahrenbergImplement Жыл бұрын
Some older models tried Dual Action Hydraulics on 3-point and it created issues with down pressure and loss of traction due to raising or taking load off the drive wheels...reducing traction and was abandoned by manufacturers. Todays modern tractors do not use down pressure on 3-point. Single Action Hydraulics to raise the implement and gravity fall to lower the implements.

I guess what I'm more interested in is any ratios or length of various components in relation to each other if that's even possible due to the differences between the makes of tractor. the only thing I can think that is similar is the A-arms on the race car to maintain the wheel at the same angle in relation to the road.
@VahrenbergImplement
@VahrenbergImplement 3 жыл бұрын
The Tractor Industry has standardize some of the dimensions of 3 point Hitches. Length from end of PTO Shaft to hitch balls (Not all but most are using same dimension), width between arms for implements (Cat 1, Cat 2, etc) Top Pin Height to Lower Lift are is getting common but has not been defined but this is more adjustable do to the top link is adjusted to match implement operation. Now it's close enough to mix match brands to work.

@VahrenbergImplement
@VahrenbergImplement 5 жыл бұрын
Is the Lever coming back up too? If so then you have friction adjustment that needs do be done to maintain the position control position of the lever. Make sure you have the Draft Lever in Position Control area of that Draft Control Segment. Draft Control is for use with Ground Engaging Implements like when plowing with a plow or chisel plow, etc. Most use Position Control for up/down control of implements. That is the easiest area to control 3 Point for raising and lowering.

Great explanation. I have added weight to my box blade to improve the performance in our rocky ground. Too many people shop by price alone, but they should look at the shipping weight of what they are buying. A 170lb box blade can not work as well as a 650lb box blade. Especially on new machines it requires some weight or pushing on the three point arms will lower them. Things are new, tight and paint created friction that reduce the ability to fall. For Pre-Delivery Inspection they recommend us to us a 400# weight to test 3 point system.

Thanks for the reply. I got it working right after I made the comment. I weight 170lbs and was only standing on it. It would barely go down. I decided, while standing on it, to jump on it when it was all the way up, with the lever in the down position. When I did it, it made a pop sound and immediately went straight to the floor. I then raised the 3 point and lowered it again. Its working now. Guess if I would have hooked the brush hog to it in the first place, the weight would have solved that problem. Thanks 😁

@rylee6979 Жыл бұрын
You never heard of Top and Tilt? (which is fairly common) doesn't that allow for downward hydraulic pressure? If you have a heavy tractor, no need to buy super heavy implements if you have top and tilt.
@VahrenbergImplement
@VahrenbergImplement Жыл бұрын
Top & Tilt Hydraulic Cylinders do not add Down Pressure the Hydraulic Cylinders change the angle of the implement. Top Lift Cylinder Changes Front to Rear Angle of the Implement and the Tilt Cylinder Change the side to side angle (Like when trying to create slope or crown in the road want one side lower so water drain.) Does not add pressure to 3 Point System. Most important thing when buying three point implements is weight to match the tractor so it can do the task needed. If too light that just bounce around the surface and do no work.
@rylee6979
@rylee6979 Жыл бұрын
@@VahrenbergImplement The top cylinder is a 2 way cylinder, when I change the angle (dig-in ) of my scraper, I can certainly lift the back of my tractor off the ground.. You wouldn't call this down pressure??? An adequately heavy tractor with top and tilt doesn't need an extra heavy scraper or box.
@VahrenbergImplement

Top Link Cylinder Changes the Angle of Cutting Edge and the Cutting Edge, Scarifiers etc dig in more creating suction. Adjusting Top Link should not raise the back of the tractor.

My problem is demolishing stuff pulling rocks out battering the ground till it gives up. Occasionally I see a large flat or light spot that's shiny and you know that's solid Rock so then you let mr jackhammer batter that a while before you bend scarifier teeth tear up linkage next thing you know you actually have a decent spot with a Little help from mr jackhammer.

Standard Tractor 3 Point Design is no down pressure. Some tractor manufacturers are selling optional cylinder but it creates problem like you are doing and tearing up the implements because they can not ride up and over obstructions or in severe application force weight off the rear wheels and you loose traction. Tractors are for Farm Equipment not Construction Equipment. If your trying to tear out rock you need Construction Equipment.
