Here's a story of me falling in love with Indian culture: I was just playing Civilization VI when I first heard an interpretation of this song as the theme of India. I felt curious and started reading about Mahatma Gandhi and his life. Needless to say, I was impressed by his philosophy of non-violent protests. All through sheer determination, patience and will of Indian people. Then I found out about Chanakya and his work "Arthashastra". Then Maurya dynasty, culture, religion... Now I so want to visit India and her great cities to learn about it more. Love from Russia.

I know your only reference point for this iconic poem is Mahamta Gandhi, but along with that, big credit goes to its creator poet Nasihma Mehta. He was the one who wrote this song in the 15th century, and then it was passed throughout the generations of Saurashtra - Gujarat, then Ghandhi popularized it further.
