Val Kilmer, what a legend. This man is courageous keeping a smile on his face after all he's gone through. To think he sang all the songs in the Doors movie. If that was me with a talented singing voice like that I would be devastated.

As I listen to Val he sounds like he is making funny sounds as he tries to breathe which Is probably from his tube , and it breaks my heart that he can’t be normal again who he was playing all these wonderful lovable, heartwarming performances. I guess in a way he is better off now then he was then when he first was diagnosed poor Val can’t even sing anymore I feel so bad for him he keeps on keeping strong he has the fighting spirit it’s a great feeling to see him alive and well sounds better each time I see him he is a real Legend and the fact that he beat Cancwr is unbelievable sincerely a sign of the fighter he won’t back down you go Val congratulations keep getting better and reaching the pot of Gold .

In case anyone is wondering why his tongue is swollen, and he's recovered from cancer but has these remaining symptoms - Radiation, unfortunately, has terrible effects. If you're a late stage cancer patient and need high amounts of it, over months to years it gradually forms fibrosis in the area, hardening the tissue. It can be softened or prevented to a degree with a type of massage, but I imagine this would be hard to do on the tongue. It will likely effect the inside of his throat and the surrounding glands, as well. He's probably coughing because his esophagus is likely swollen and tight, not letting much air through. You can also see he wipes his mouth and nose a lot. The submandibular and salivary glands are probably seized, and since he can't move his tongue much, he may drool or have saliva lay towards the front of his mouth, not being able to use his tongue to move toward the back or frequently swallow. It's amazing how much work a tongue actually performs - that we take for granted or aren't even aware of. My mom had radiation, and it rid her of cancer, as well, but as the years have gone on, she's had terrible side effects from it.

It’s such a shame that he didn’t get a chance to play in more movies 🍿 like back when he could talk like normal , his voice was so unique and special to all his fans he got a bad rap , now he can only talk with a robotic voice box . What a shame and I am so broken-hearted for him that he had to live as a former shell of himself.

no hassle I'm aware of all his greatest roles. He was amazing as him Morrison in the doors, great as iceman in top gun even though he didn't want to be in the film. Was great in heat, and impeccable as doc Holliday in tombstone. Great as gay perry in kiss kiss bang bang. Was difficult off set but great as Montgomery in the island of dr moreau. But of all of those roles in his career you can't deny that batman forever is one of the ones he's most known for and that's why I chose that... pffft

He is playing it off like he's fully recovered from a cancerous tumor and the only remaining symptom is a swollen tongue... Clearly something is up here. I saw him speak today and he sounds the same if not worse, plus he is short of breath and prone to coughing fits. I remember back in November he was having this problem. Now, he only addresses it very vaguely, saying things like, "I'm healing after a tumor and I'm better all the time" when this seems untrue. He is a Christian Scientist, and I don't know to what extent that prevents him from seeking medical attention but I think it's a factor. I think he's purposely don't seeking the treatment he desperately needs because of his religion and maybe even believes that through prayer and whatever nonsense it is that Christian Scientists do he'll be able to cure himself. He simultaneously doesn't want to disappoint his fans who want him to seek medical help as well as not wanting to disappoint himself and his Christian Scientist companions who would rather he not trust in modern medicine. Fascinating, and sad.

How can a religion, a thing that's suppose to BENEFIT your life, be against modern medical science??? Isn't it called Christian SCIENCE??? OH Val, why?? How can you joke about screenplays when you can barely talk, as the cancer continues to to take over? Run, Val, RUN to the hospital! No more jokes, I refuse to laugh, this isn't funny. This is an emergency & it seems everyone knows it but him.

What is it with you people about his Christian faith to believe God is going to heal him, I believe Jesus is our healer and if you think it is foolish to believe God will heal you maybe you need to see all the people that God has healed and still healing today, but like Thomas you dont believe until you see it for yourself well maybe you will see Val get his healing if he turns to Jesus and believes JESUS WILL heal him. this guy on this radio is one sick man.

Val had talent in abundance but as the stories go, he was such a nightmare to work with that his career never reached the level it should've done. However, maybe it's down to what's happened with his illness or maybe he just mellowed with age, but he comes across really fucking well here.

Why do you assume Val got a tumor from smoking? I knew a guy in his late 40s who never smoked, organic vegetarian diet most his life, never drank, in fine shape inside and out, and got a cancerous tumor that rendered him unable to speak. Some things are mysterious. Not all bad things that happen to people are preventable.

No, he is NOT in character, he is very ill and has said so, and anyone claiming that he is "in character" is missing the very, very obvious very raspy and labored breathing and deep cough with phlegm. Those are not faked. These have gotten worse in more recent interviews he has done. He is also wiping away drool every few seconds. That is not FAKED. He is extremely ill, and it is quite tragic. His religious beliefs (Christian Science) prevent him from getting normal medical treatment, which is also tragic.

I am sorry, but show some respect. Everyone gets ill at some point (unless life ends suddenly such as a car accident) and every person dies. Guess what? Illness is tough, and it isn't pretty. Val Kilmer has contributed more to the world than 99% of the creeps commenting on his illness. He has made many films that many people have enjoyed. Show him a tiny bit of HUMAN COMPASSION as he is suffering. That's what makes you a human being and not just a selfish overgrown glob of sperm

He by his own account has stated that he hasn't consulted the illness via traditional medical diagnosis in a hospital. He is a devout christian scientist, and in that particular religious cult, they do not believe in medical cures via western medical tradition. He is in the belief, that God will have a cure for it - that is how they operate in this religious sect. And it's absolutely tragic to witness...

He is OBVIOUSLY very ill (are you stoned? Do you hear his labored breathing and his deep phlegmatic cough? Do you see him wiping away drool?) He's also talked about it in other interviews. He's done a few Reddit AMAs in which he is very open about his Christian Science beliefs (which means no modern medicine).
