This is sooooo dope. I am originally from Valdosta. Born and raised. Valdosta is known for being called title town. Valdosta is also known for the theme park Wild Adventures and Moody Air Force Base. Honestly Valdosta is pretty laid back and chill, more of a retirement place. A lot of ppl from Florida move here. Downtown Valdosta really is a better scene at night time and 1st Fridays. Thanks for stopping through and showing love.

Yeah, you are so right. I moved to a city called Hahira, GA, right next to Valdosta two years ago from Miami FL, so you know I'm very bored and about to go crazy at times. However, Valdosta has a very slow pace. The people that I've met are courteous and appear to be kind. There's not a lot of stress with irate drivers, lots of killing, all the nationalities, the languages, and that other stuff that comes with living in Sunny South Florida. Yeah, it is boring, but it's a peaceful city. I missed my hometown, but I don't plan to move back. If you're a party person, this isn't the place for you. 😮

Local here!!! Everything is closed because the shop owners are all busy beyond all belief and love being with their families. The owner of one of the most popular restaurants in town that just closed ...when we asked the owner she just said, "Meh, I'm going to go watch my daughter graduate high school ..." We may all be closed, but we doin' just fine :) Go to Grand Bay!!! Also...check it...our airport has only 4 flights a day that only go to Atlanta. Free parking. Yeah, free airport parking. Downtown too. Just park your car for free and walk around...🤯

@@TIMJMEANSBUSINESS - a majority of the stores are closed because of the recession.. I know this for a fact because I have a friend whose business is buying out the merchandise from these stores that have gone under. The only thing that keeps this city alive is Moody Air Force Base and that base is frozen for any future civilian employees and has been for years. The traffic is horrendous here; I've been on the 405 freeway in California and this town's traffic is even worse.

The one that said it was remodeling is my great grandfathers old Jewlery store. Stephensons jewelers. He passed away almost 20 years years ago and my uncle owns it now but has never done much with it. But it used to be the biggest jewelry store in Valdosta. He started by selling diamonds out of a briefcase door to door. Just a cool little fun fact lol.

Born and raised, still live in Valdosta. What you thought was a movie theater. It was years ago. Now people put on plays there. The movie theater is on Bay Tree near our mall. What you thought was a capital building was the old Lowndes County court house. The courthouse is near there in a newer building. I know some details like that because of my dad. Straight place as long as you have transportation. 1:30 to 4hrs either direction from major cities like J-Ville,Tallahassee, Tampa, Atlanta. Which gives you good access to Beaches/Major Airports and 2 major Highways 75 and 84. Alot slower than bigger cities which is good in my opinion as you have a choice to drive to more busy Cities without having the everyday struggles of living in one like traffic 😆.

@@TIMJMEANSBUSINESSDowntown is bared up because there are some rough Neighborhoods a few blocks from Downtown. Block in the 70s and 80s they were mostly White Neighborhoods but starting in the late 80s and the 90s most of the Whites moved to Hahira or newer Subdivisions, now it's primarily Hispanics and African Americans and the crime can get bad in those neighborhoods but otherwise the the rest of the country is fine crime wise. It's probably overhyped in the paper but it's mostly property crime and anytime there's a murder it's either drug or gang related.

Valdosta definitely has grown in recent years. From indoor bowling, virtual golf, escape rooms, downtown amphitheater and virtual reality at the popular trampoline park. Of course you still have Wild Adventures Theme & Water Park and Grand Bay for the nature lovers. 🚣🏼🏊🏾‍♀️ Seems like every month a new apartment complex or subdivision breaks ground. 🏡 I would say if Valdosta had a bigger/better mall, more flights at the airport, and higher paying jobs (like factory work or an Amazon distribution center), Valdosta would be a great place to live!

Speak for yourself, the more development y'all do in Valdosta the higher off the cost of living will get and the more subdivisions moving north towards Hahira and Cook County. We like it how it is and we don't want some developers to clear our land and throw up hundreds of sub standard houses that will need major repairs if not fully torn down and rebuilt in 10-20 years.

It's prettier at night. That big building is the old court house. If you Google Fried green tomatoes courthouse scene you can see the inside of it. Zombieland was also filmed locally. Not sure why the shops were closed. Not alot for the 20 year Olds to do. Plenty for kids and elderly to do. Maybe two night clubs. Lots of parks.Plenty of jobs. Not many pay too good. People are nice for the most part. Crime could be better.Come check us out dureing Christmas. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Do the speed limit. He went to historic downtown which is near the low income area. I used to go to church in the salmon coloured building he walk by a few times across from the Daniel Ashley building you see in the video. We served a lot of homeless people there for years and got them off the street. Unfortunately, the church had to close because the neighboring businesses were getting tired of seeing homeless people around us several times a week. He's also close to where a friend of mine was shot and killed. That's also a prime area for negotiable affection. This is one small part of Valdosta though.
