Oh I love this recording - the tempo is as it is intended. There are some wonderful other recordings, but often they are a bit slowe, and the theme, the Paganini Rondo from a violinconcerto is fast. And note how musically satisfying, fun, joking, the superfast passage is, the one at 02:10 - two-hand chromatic figure upwards to a trill, and then - suddenly the trill goes pianissimo and is waiting to explode! Love it.

Resplendent performance. The dynamism in the hands and fingers is so stirring and impressive. Valentina Lisitsa gives an enrichment of colour, light, rhythmic drive, balance and a beautiful monumental shot playing the difficult and gorgeous 'La Campanella!'

Genius! Beauty ! Work! There aren't enough words to describe this execution of La Campanella. Valentina's perfect play never lets her radiant beauty overwhelm the flow of the music. We feel her as a second presence that accompanies Liszt's wonderful piece. Beauty will save the world.!

I don’t know how to describe it. She’s a Bösendorfer artist, but even when she plays on other pianos, the sound is absolutely...of Valentina quality. Hence, a Valentina sound, and she doesn’t need a specific piano to prove it. Such a true artist indeed.

Valentina plays this with such a lightness of touch. The keys are dancing and the notes seem to float. It sounds so gentle and delicate compared to nearly everyone else. Amazing how a piece of music changes with the individual. From Lang Lang's Für Elise, and now Valentina's rendition of this. Incredible. It really is transcendent.
