Anybody else noticed how piano interpretations of various pieces have become increasingly faster tempo over the years? Is it the same phenomenon as walking speeds in cities being accelerated the larger the city? Or talking speeds.. While I do like this interpretation I feel it's a bit overly hectic compared to the overly dramatic intro. Then again, it's Beethoven so contrasts are a given. Need to listen to this multiple times before I make up my mind. 2nd movement was absolutely beautiful! Love how delicate and slow the interpretation was. This is how I've always imagined it, as a lullaby.

No coughing version! Yes! I think the sound quality and overall the timing and sound quality of her previous recording was spot on. If only it wasn't the coughing. Perhaps we could find a way to edit that out ( I know I could do it anyway). I like the first version better overall. I think this is an impressionist take on it. It is good but I liked the original better (minus the coughing!) This one to me is more of a sad or longing for something version of it rather than the more heroic and inspiring version I got from the previous version. Still an amazing piece of work :) keep it up Valentina!

I've been a Beethoven nut since I was a teen and have heard uncountable artists perform his piano sonatas. But to my ear and my opinion of Beethoven based on a lot of reading over many years, she is the BEST Beethoven interpreter I have ever heard. FWIW, Number 8 is a bit special for me. When I was playing a lot this sonata was my personal "limit" for piano playing. On a really good day I could, with some luck, manage the 3rd movement of the Moonlight at tempo but this is the most difficult piano piece I could perform reliably. My friends/family probably heard it more than they wanted to... ;)
