Some great ideas and prospective to provoke thought from the norm. My Grandfather use to say when they processed a pig that they used everything but the squeal. The bones where ground up to make bone meal to fertilize the garden.

Definitely not a traditional Valentines Day, but I must say that I think it's good, because so many families end up in debt just trying to bury their loved ones. If your dead, the least you can do is make sure that your loved ones don't have to go into debt to take care of your funeral. So, it's actually a nice sentiment.

Having buried my parents last year, I can say that caskets are very expensive. We bought one of the cheapest ones available, and it was around 2,300 and change.
@richardelliott8352 Жыл бұрын
there are economical covered cardboard caskets commercially available for those who don't care to store a casket until needed. I am hoping the Oregon laws that permit composting of the dead will spread to my state , but that may take a while. As someone who was alive during the above ground atomic bomb testing, burning my body would release enough stored radioactive material to be against the law, so probably burial at sea is also not a good idea. It is always smart to plan ahead.

Dan, your definitely different but people trying to conform are boring so you still have me as a subscriber, but love to see a car resto soon too...cheers brenton vk3cm Tangambalanga North East Victoria Australia 😇😇😇😇🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

For some reason when I clicked on the video I had a feeling Dan built a coffin. Probably not the best Valentine's gift Dan. I hope you built a dog house too; because you might be in it. All kidding aside, I think the coffin is a fantastic idea. I've considered building my own coffin in the past and saving my kid potentially $30K would be a blessing.

I have to admit I have never witnessed a Valentine's Day gift like this. :) You are clever Dan with non-stop surprises. After hearing about how flowers become waste, its good that you did not go into how chocolates become waste. :) I have been down the road of dealing with a funeral director more times than I care to remember. It can be costly for sure. Hopefully someone will post Audrey's first reaction to this video. :) I am betting on the eyeroll.

I prefer to use some good ole fossil fuel, creating some C02 for the trees, and simply get cremated, then they can scatter the ashes / dirt anywhere, the spirit is gone, and I dont waste perfectly good real-estate. This would have been a good Halloween episode too, including the pumpkin excavator.

Interesting. I have my burial lot purchased. I never thought about the point of when I'm gone and how my body can be recycled. I do know from experience that planting something over a dead creature does make what is planted there grow like wildfire. This was kind of a morbid video. But, this is something that does need to be discussed and planned. Not many folks are wanting and willing to have this conversation.
