Katia is here 53 and so youthful like time didn't touch them. I watched the full ballet 3 times and cried each time, so sad but wonderful. Vladia's choreography was so perfect and story was told so well that there was no need for reading libretto. It's about a father (mother is gone) makes his daughter marry an older, cold, unattractive man for money and shy sweet girl in love with a young student has to live him and being unhappy in marriage is starting to live a high life of men and cards soon forgetting about her poor father and brothers.

Whenever I am particularly sad I come back to this video, which has been my favourite since I found it years ago. Whenever I remember it exists I'm filled with such joy -- the love and trust between the artists is so gentle, so fluid and easy, and I remember why I love ballet all over again. So glad this gem was recorded.
