The Ashen cape already had the frost resist buff. You most likely got confused with the Asksvin cape

Ah shit, I think you're right. I looked at my old armor video and the Ashen Cape did have frost resist in it, but the Askvin didn't. I just logged back into test and the Askvin does have it now. Pinning this comment so everyone can see the error, to help avoid confusion. I appreciate you @subjecthive_ !

Awesome! I'm too scared to enable the cheat mode thing or whatever but we working on getting the new flaming sword. I just gotta find the boss guy. We finally unlocked the charred cogwheel in the world with the homie frrr was waiting for that we love using it with the catapult

I don't think the log out trick will work on persistent servers. Seems like a thing that works solo or hosted on the same machine as the game client

Yeah! I think all capes should have the frost resist buff. Makes sense since it is basically a blankey on your back. :)

@@Maxxramus24 Id say every cape after the wolf cape. Having to brew frost resistance meads to go to the mountains is a well designed progression point in the early game and the wolf cape makes it so much better when the nights arent cold anymore. You have to experience that first to really appreciate the buff.

@@Maxxramus24 currently on my 3rd play through, just got to mountains and last night I finished getting all my silver. No more frost meads! I’ve been really enjoying your content and I’m super excited to reach endgame, I’m thinking a mix of magic and melee, but probably will just use the protection staff and spec more into my spear/sword. That scourging slayer is calling my name and I already know I’m gonna go ham with that bastard

hey max, we explored a little bit of the old ashlands in my world, will we have to make a new map for the ashlands update or is it fine?

You won't have to remake the entire world, but the area you explored will not populate. You can see a large area just west of the mysterious location I showed on the map that is far to the east. That area is not populated for me as I explored it last year. All the Ashlands areas you did not explore should populate when it goes live.

they also made staff of the wild much better, in addition to 20 poison damage, it now does 20 blunt as well, making it pretty viable for dungeons, fortresses and even fuling camps...tbh it feels like it's more then 20 dmg too, really smacks hard now

Yeah it felt like a big damage increase. And you can spam cast it to spawn a bunch. Looks much more exciting now.

Levitation is the same, log out and resets the timer

Yeah it's kinda weird and defeats the purpose of the sinking. I guess you lose your rested buff, but that's worth it if you are having a hard time finding Leviathan's or Flametal Spires.

The vines still don't grow on horizontal core beam logs (like a log cabin)

I'm not sure they were intended to grow on beams, were they? I thought they were only meant to grow on wall structures.

The whole sinking/buggy Flametal thing is a nonstarter for permadeath. This is the worst aspect of the new biome as I die to lava way way more than enemies which is lame. The no star dvergr seem to weak to matter but a one star+ can be a little helpful

I cheat. I use devcommands when I test and it lets me upgrade anything to level 4. I will sometimes show case that level, but I usually test with rank 2 items.

Frost and poison resistance for armour and capes but no fire????

Yeah no fire resist on capes. We have the fire resist potions, but there really isn't much "fire" damage in Ashlands to be honest. The lava pools and red ocean are "heat" damage. The rest of the monsters don't really have fire attacks.

there is another thing about "boiling in water" is that the closest you are to the end of the world (south) the faster you die

Oh really? So if you are on the south shore of an Ashlands continent, is the red sea timer shorter before you burn? I haven't tested that.

The sinking mechanic for flametal ore feels pointless. Make it take longer to mine and take it out the sinking. Having to jump across a lake of lava just to the lava spit 10 m away and kill you is bad enough.
