If you’d like to drop many eggs as singles for hatching, you can use a wall item stand and rapidly press [number key] to attach one egg to the stand and [E] to remove it, where it will drop to the ground as a single item. I usually aim for an upper corner of the item stand so I don’t accidentally pluck the egg out of the air.

I love your videos about this. On a side note, i hope the devs will add an armor options for our companions. In my recent playtrough with my friend, we tamed two Loxes to travel around with. After about 2 minutes, a Deathsquito ambushed the Lox and took out 70% of its health... Our riding adventures were a very short one. We burried our pets and tried again, but once again it was very shortlived. In Ashlands we tried to tame Asksvins to ride with aswell, but after about 2 minutes of riding, the Asksvins had lost their lives... I dont wish for any visual armor upgrades for pets/companions, but a simple armor slot where you can craft a pet armor to put in so they become more durable would make the Valheim riding/companion experience a much better one.

The fact that a lot of the mobs and bosses in Valheim uses names from the nordic languages is really cool, and really funny because nobody are even close to pronouncing them correctly😅"Asksvin" means "Ash swine" btw.

So they have to get 3 love points which can take a while as mine just don't fancy each other lol. Then once pregnant, another minute and a half to pop an egg. Then 30mins hatching time and finally 50mins to convert to adult = 81mins (absolute minimum) at which point you can make ONE Piquant Pie (more if you're Asksvins are starred*) which will last 30 mins. Nice one devs!!! A big lizard thing like that should keep a Viking fed for days ;-) Aside from this, once again you've provided a top class instructional video with excellent narration! EDIT: Once penned in a small enclosure they had to like each other; then I overlooked that multiple eggs (and not ONE) can be laid in the 81 mins - duuuuh me...

These actually are the perfect pets IMO. If you hop off your mount, you can fight with them. If you get on your mount, you can sprint across the world. I didn’t tame them in my playthrough because i went intk the ashlands blind, and i didn’t see much of a point, but these guys seem really useful and somewhat attainable early-on.
@AarynGulledge8 ай бұрын
Excellent guide! I've used a "wild taming" technique for lox where I just sneak up behind them without trapping them, toss them food, and wait for them to be tamed. I wonder if that'll be possible for asksvins or if they are too aggressive, turn too much to sneak up on, wander too much, or get attacked by other mobs. I'd love to have a guardian herd of 2* asksvins for my future Ashlands base like I do with lox in my plains base (over 100 head at last count).

There is bug with the pit method where they will try to walk into the walls even if you have completely flat floor and vertical walls. to fix this you can just place floor in the corners or around the pit or just floor the whole pit before adding them in. I just spent 5 hours trying to make this work and I finally got floor in the corners and they started eating.

Yes! Asksvin army…. Assemble! Edit: they don’t follow you around like wolves, they behave like lox. But, the army is still possible, just bring however many eggs you want to wherever you want your army (hello Yagluth…) and hatch them at the location. Once they’re all hatched and grown up, either keep em in the pen for boss fights or unleash them into whatever biome you choose for added security. And of course, toss a saddle on one for riding!

Why do my Askvin take fire damage whenever I cross lava ? They litterally catch on fire after 5s and start taking dps....They are so useless. Especially since they completely abandon you as soon as you get off them. So if you mine in the middle of lava and arrived on your friend's back, they will most likely be completely gone by the time you finish mining, and you'll lose a saddle.
