@@JackSather True mate, mozzies are second only to wasps 😲 The worst thing about mozzies is when you're in bed, lights off, you're just nodding off when you hear BZZZzzzzzzzz really close to your ears 👀 😲 you flail your arms around like a demented octopus, and then you hear silence, apart from the blood pulsing in your ears. You have to get up and turn the light on, scanning the ceiling and walls for the little blighter and there it is, motionless on the lampshade. One well placed splat and it's goodnight Vienna for the mozzie. There was simply no way that I could ignore a mozzie on the hunt for my blood, it could probably drink a couple of pints of my finest draught red stuff 😆👍

Valheim, a $20, 1GB indie game did Vikings better than Assassin's Creed Valhalla, a $60, about 70GB AAA game. That's all you need to know about the current climate in gaming. Indie games are what I'm convinced, are keeping gaming fun at the moment
@SpookyShayOClery
@SpookyShayOClery 2 жыл бұрын
That doesn’t really make sense. This game is a fantasy adventure that just uses norse myth as a backdrop and as a way to contextualize magical stuff and thangs. Valhalla is supposed to be a glorified retelling of history. Both use a sort of pseudo historical aesthetic that takes certain elements from true history and blends them with modern Norse influenced iconography (vegvisir type symbols and stuff like that). Neither of them really ‘does Vikings’ better than the other because they both have completely different goals. It also doesn’t say much about the state of gaming, it says a lot about the state of Ubisoft and the value of a small team sharing a strong vision. Two games and one comparison can’t represent the entire landscape.

5 people ... 5 PEOPLE made a game that's genuinely fun to play. Where you simply have a good time with yourself or friends. If only 5 individuals can do that, through a pandemic no less? Then Triple A developers with hundreds of staff have no excuses.
@SquareNoggin
@SquareNoggin 2 жыл бұрын
I kind of feel like people need to be less pessimistic about gaming. There's enough demand for the good stuff that it'll keep coming IMO. If the barrier of entry is low enough that five people can still pump out a masterpiece, then things are alright.
@EL-ISS
@EL-ISS 2 жыл бұрын
@@SquareNoggin I understand what you're saying. And the market decides, so when a good game comes out people will flock to that. What my original comment means is, if only 5 people from an indie company can pump out a great game ... Why was Cyberpunk 2077 broken? Why do modders always have to fix Bethesda games like Fallout or Elder Scrolls? Why is Halo: Infinite STILL lacking maps and new game modes? All three of those games were made by massive studios with hundreds of dev staff. I'm not blaming the devs themselves but the corporation. These bastards ask for $70.00 USD for a game that's not even finished on release? It's robbery, and they need to always be held accountable. I'm seriously tired of corporations trying to f*ck us. They ruin all the best games. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, etc etc. They're all ABSOLUTE sh*t now. They just give us garbage and expect $70.00 USD it's B.S. and if you get special editions, you're paying upwards of $120.00 USD, ridiculous ...

The music actually does a very good job of setting the tone for what your about to get into. The meadows is peaceful and feels safe, and when youre inside your home structure its warm and cozy, but as you venture into the blacl forest and beyond the music gets grim and almost haunting. Theres so many aspects of this game the devs nailed, and I love that we have an indie publisher like Coffe Stain putting out these fantastic games (and goddamn is Satisfactory good. Developed and published by Coffe Stain). We need more publishers like them. They are an example of a publisher doing good in the games industry.

What's so crazy is that me and 4 friends have played this once at launch, then killed Queen when it came out. Then before ashlands released we did a playthrough on the Very Hard Preset, and now we're launching into ashlands and the feeling is the same as when you encounter your first troll. Like all of us have several hundred hours in this game but ALL OF US still come back and have that same sensation. Incredible. After several hundred hours you still get killed by falling trees because you still didn't learn the mechanics good enough lol. This game keeps you on the edge.

The most impactful moment i've had in video games in recent memory was stepping foot into the Black Forest in Valhiem. The change in music, the light being all but absent. The rows of tall trees. The foreboding, yet enchanting, energy emanating from this space. I step one foot in, and saw a "rock" move. It was a Troll who was down an incline, then it turned to look at me and I ran SO FAST and didn't look back till I was at my shack. Valheim is up there with Terraria for top games of all time, they hit the same gear progression fix, and they both do an amazing job of making you feel weak going into an area, but after a while you come out confident and able to handle anything the space could throw at you.

I looked back, panicked in lowercase and told him to run run run. We had the game volume lower and were constantly talking so neither of us even heard it coming 🤣 he’s also a pretty chill guy who doesn’t spook easily and I’d never heard that man panic so quickly in all my life🤣🤣 we bolted back to our shared shed of a house so fast🤣

Valheim doesn't have anything to polish because nothing new or interesting of note has been added since it came out

@@NeckBreakingStunts Kinda says a lot though. It launched with a perfectly enjoyable game, even in early access. Hell it contended for GotY in early access lol.

@@derek96720 I don't dispute that any of that is extremely impressive, but it still doesn't excuse the fact that the post launch content updates have been utterly abysmal, and no matter how much you love it (coming from someone who also lives it and has put hundreds of hours into it), I think it's outright disingenuous to claim that it's anywhere close to a finished game.

I'm not into this type of game and I would never play it nor do I have a drip of interest in it and knew that from the first minute but I watched the whole video just because you're a fantastic KZbinr bro. Love your vids for real

I love this game but I can only play solo. Wish there would be official open servers, because none of my friends play this and I just dont have the possibility to go to Discord and coordinate schedules (also it seems no one from my timezone plays this + uses Discord). I dont know how many people are in the same situation, but its a shame if there are many players that would love to meet and play in an occasional basis but will never experience the coop side, which is essentially where the real fun is.

the youtube algorithm gods have blessed me, randomly finding this channel, saw your red dead video how rockstar screwed it up, 100% spot on talking points btw, and i gotta love a fellow gamer that busts out a beer mid video lmao "hell yea this my kinda dude!", "small channel he says? psshh how this video? has a million views he must be like one of those pewdiepie types that got a billion subscribers or something right, oh....this is a small channel lmao /subbed" Anyways all that aside, holy f*ck! You perfectly described how i feel about valheim, i got 1,012 hours into the game and still love it, and im a fkin hermit playing completely by myself the entire journey navigating the seas alone not knowing whats ahead, greatest experience of my life, none of my friends play it (i swear i got at least more than 1 friend) nobody i know sees the eternal glory that is valheim, i even bought the game for one of them, still havnt even fking played it together and its been like 2 weeks now the bastard. Killed all the bosses alone, never used "imacheater" in the console command, now i just feel exactly like Thanos at the end of infinity war, running my hand through my crops, sitting down in my awesome ocean village platform i made, watching the sunsets on a grateful world rid of Odins enemies, no raids can even reach me lol sometimes at night i look out the window of my core wood two story log cabin in the ocean village looking down at the alleyway looking at the other apartment buildings i made for no one tbh, thinking of a pack of Fenrings creeping inside my ocean platform town feeling silly cuz itll never happen.....hopefully trying to show this video to a friend rn, and the dude literally likes 76 more than valheim, doesnt see whats the big deal about it, says its tedious *facepalm* dammit colt! if he only knew, i keep saying DX sorry if anyone reads all that.
