Many slant 6 cars / trucks used the larger 727 transmission variant . Also, if you are manually shifting between 1 st and 2 nd , that will burn up the rear band.

Also, the linkage between the carb throttle and transmission is critical as this sets shift points and line pressure.

Valients need more love. Cool style and reputation for running reliably for years and years. A friend had this model; musician who drove all over hell. But one day, years later, he reported that "It squealed like a pig" and died an oily death.
