Valkyries Tear Origami Dart Tutorial

Do not throw this model at anyone. It is capable of piercing cardboard. I have thrown this 185 feet on a few days with good conditions. This model is not meant to spin and it flies level once properly balanced.

Doesn’t Robert J Lang use large rectangles to make his complicated origami? Squares have symmetrical advantages. Square Force Planes makes a lot of his from a square too. No wonder both of your square planes have achieved much success in your respective domains.

I wasn't expecting that thing to actually pierce a poster like that, lol. Very interesting model, one does learn a lot looking at how the angles and specific folds and such start making sense with the goals of each project, like the weight distribution in this one, ingenious. Thank you for sharing! On another note, I wonder if we can get a guide about converting A4 folds into squares? Say, like folding your improved Suzanne with a square while maintaining the same proportions as an A4 model. I suppose you have to fold it along the diagonal, but some advice figuring out the angles would be neat to watch.

It was a poster taped to cardboard. It went through both. An a4 sheet of paper is close to the proportions of the 22.5 structure. There are a couple ways of doing that. Ill get into it later.

@@Tigerprowltactical Not exactly 'any dart'. It must have a very heavily reinforced nose. It must also be very well designed. I can think of many, many darts that could not pierce cardboard ike that.
