Great Job Kyle, hope you bust the record! A locking, non-taped design would be a real cherry on top scenario. Two questions: Why this plane as a starting design to go after the record? Do you have any glider designs that are a possible option for the record? Okay, a third question: What’s this plane called?

Hi Will! In future episodes, I'll get into more detail on why I'm not using tape, why the series is beginning with this plane, etc. but I can answer your questions here as well. 1. I'm starting with this plane for a few reasons. First, I would love to break the record without using tape. That's the dream. I'm not sure whether that's even possible, but I plan to give my best effort to that end before pursuing designs that do require tape. The locking mechanism in this plane can be used in darts, hybrids, and gliders, which means I have a lot of flexibility when working from this starting point. 2. I haven't yet designed any gliders that are worthy of contending for the record, but I'm aware that a glider may be the best solution. That said, I'm fairly certain any glider design that is capable of flying 226 feet would require tape to construct (which is why my early focus is on darts). 3. This plane is called Rival (Prototype 1). 4. Thanks for your encouragement!

This is an amazing plane! It reminds me of the Complicated origami version of Scorcher a bit with the locking method. This plane looks amazing, and it also flies well. one thing to take into account when you are trying to break the world record is that you are allowed to use a little tape (I forget how much but I remember John Collins mentioning it in one of his videos on how he broke the world record) so it's probably not worth it to try and make the paper self locking.
