It is what anyone else would do. Especially trained life guards. I think it's awesome this happened. I'm laughing a bit because...of this.... I jumped into riptide in St Pete Florida swam out approx 200 meters with an 5 gallon bucket to save a family of 4 they each were able to barely hang on ..the current brought us back to the inner coastal...that took about 20 min and the dad almost gave up twice while we were out there. There were two adults in there early 50s and 2 children approx 8 and 10 they were terrible swimmers and I am certain they would have lost a family member that afternoon. We floated back to "passe grille beach inlet" and by the time we'd made it back...I heard more screams coming from behind me. I got them to shore..swam out about 50 meters and was able to guide the other swimmer. He was attempting to rescue the other family and had grown too exhausted in his efforts. I got to him just in time. As we all regrouped at the beach people had began to gather. I was sure they were fine the ambulance and fire department showed up and my work was done. I began to walk back to the group I was with, the mother, now being cared for by the fire department yelled thank you! You saved my family!! Please let me thank that man she said as she tried to sit up...the last thing I remember is a St Pete police officer say...ma'am highly doubt it was him... folks like him dont swim. She was lifted up in a stretcher and slid into an ambulance. I left out that I'm a black man... apparently we can't swim? That's exactly what that officer meant when he said what he said. Because I was serving in the military at the time I looked exactly like a swimmer...in shape and highly motivated... I said your welcome ma'am. My team mates and I left (3witnesses) and I haven't thought about this incident since it happened 7 years ago. I hope that family is okay. And I hope people keep being heros..good job boys. The two of you just made a life long memory for that little girl

I don't think this behavior is good because they would be possibly sacrificing their lives for someone they don't know and that people (the ones in the water) got there by their own stupidity. Why shouldn't they just go and save them?? because first they don't know the situation and they don't have help(from authorities or other people) and imagine how would the families of the "heroes" feel if they died? And finally, I think the correct solution would be to call 911 (I think that's the number of the united states emergency call)

I would like to share a story that happened a few years ago in the region where I live, in memory of the person who saved two people but died in the process: Two tourists went into the sea even if that day there was a strong wind and it was recommended to not go into the sea. Indeed in a few minutes they were dragged away by the underwater currents and were risking to die. A young man just got into the waters to save this two people (strangers to him), he successfully drag them nearer to the shore but then he was dragged himself by the current and died. It was really sad that a young man died for the stupidity of two people.

the parents that raised these young men are the parents of the century right here, i can only imagine the pride in their hearts watching this video seeing their sons do what all parents hope their children will do............. be responsible, caring and doing whats right. congrats to these young men. i am sure we'll be hearing your names again in the future.
@codypriceYouTubeAddednumbers2 жыл бұрын
do you really have to thank the parents? Like why? You know nothing about their parents. They literally could have terrible parents that raise them. You don't need great parents to know that you should help someone. If you would just say how their parents could be proud of them i wouldn't feel the need to comment. But you leave a comment that implies bad parents make bad kids, thats a whole can of worms that spinned in a different way you would hate to attribute it to. Just say they are heroes, leave their parents out of it.

@@codypriceKZbinAddednumbers i never said bad parents make bad kids. i said that these parents would be proud of their children and what is wrong with giving some praise to their parents? your right! i don't know their parents, nor do i know if they even have parents. i was merely showing some love to people. wow! if my non-violent, non-disrespectful and non-sarcastic comment bothered you to the point you had to respond, i feel for you that you don't have anything better to do then try to call me out for showing respect and kindness to people. that's all!

I had the same situation happen to me 10 years ago. I was with my family at sunset cliffs when I decided to get closer to the edge of the cliff as i saw a bunch of people recording something in the water. To my surprise, 2 teenage girls calling for help as the waves started pounding them. Not one person out of atleast 10-15 did anything about it. Without hesitation I quickly jumped in and managed to calm them down as I grabbed one and swam her to the side of the cliff. I had to time the swell and lift her up as quickly as possible. Once the first girl was up I raced to the second one as she was starting to panic with the ever increasing swells coming in. I managed to get her and myself up the side of the cliff and back to safety. Even As an experienced swimmer, i was wiped out! I'm glad I was there, as who knows what their fate might have been. That day will forever be one my greatest life moments.

You are far to experienced to comment here. This thread is for knowitalls and ace-wholes. That said - and without knowing the place, wouldn't it be likely, that there was other places very close by, where they could have been "pushed up" by the waves, if someone non swimmer guided them to it? The waves seem to not be that "wavy", meaning couldn't they "just" have back swam while the water rises and falls, until they reached a better place, or the life guard team reached them?
@pierceaero30052 жыл бұрын
@@CONEHEADDK Not in this location. Even experienced lifeguards are in danger if they get into that water. They take equipment into that place. Without that, it is all the more dangerous. @@pierceaero3005 OK - cool. I'm scared of swimming as soon as I can't stand on the bottom, and the waves ruin my balance. I always wonder how anglers wading waist deep or deeper with waders on, think that is a good idea. Even knee deep you don't need that big waves to be pushed over, and since "nobody" ever learns how to either swim with them on, or get out of the fast, they are very much playing with their lives, just to catch more fish (which actually rarely is the case, as fish usually are seeking prey close to land). Lucky (stupid) girls, fantastic brave young men. Even when I was most "badass" tv where people risked their lives for strangers, could make sentimental.
