So in the process of e-tuning the ST with PD Tuning, I noticed that the car was beginning to struggle in the top end and it sounded like there was a problem with the turbo... This problem lead to the discovery of a continuously reoccurring issue that has plagued this turbo kit since the very beginning. I was tired of dealing with this same problem so I took matters into my own hands.

Nice, I like your youtube content! I also welded the downpipe adapter. The V-band clamp between the exhaust housing and cylinder head adapter is also a problem. After a certain time, the clamp also loosens itself. I welded that too. Now everything is tight again. Greetings from Germany ✌🏼

Brandon Miller Love to see that you enjoy what we do! It’s been hard to keep up with the vids lately and I apologize. We haven’t really filmed much of what’s going on with any of the other cars that the guys have, so I’m just working with what we got and the current situation with the virus. I promise, I won’t stop pumpin the videos out long as I can still hold a camera and work on a car hahaha

I enjoy all your videos man, they are all informative, with zero BS. I can tell you one thing tho, it is much easier working on a S550 ecoboost, than the Focus ST lol. Since it's designed around the 5.0 Coyote engine, there is tons of space under the hood, with just the little 2.3L in there. So easy to work on. Currently i'm running the NX2 turbo, with FBO, i will be picking up a bigger intercooler soon tho. Running CPE street intercooler I'm 360-370 whp, on Ultra 94 E10 pump gas, here in Eastern ON, Canada. We don't have E85 at the pump anymore (pricks) , however we can get RGA , and i am able to make around 420-430whp safely on stock engine. I would like to pick up another engine, and turn it up, to find out the kaboom point, fr shits and giggles. I will eventually put a built bottom end someday, but until then, will just have to play it safe, as this is my daily. Love the vidz keep them coming :-)

I've got 60k miles on my engine. I was wanting to go big turbo, nothing more than 350hp, with a external wastegate. Do you think it would still be a reliable daily? I just dont want to blow the engine. :/

Ok, so what kind of high temp paint is that? I have tried a few on the brake calipers, and they all burn off. If it can last on the turbo, maybe it can last on the calipers...
@zeropointstar
@zeropointstar 3 жыл бұрын
Use a high heat primer and then high heat paint? There's no way your calipers are breaking 2000⁰, right? If they are, use naca ducting through your belly pan under the engine and shoot the air up into the brakes.

Any thoughts on reliability of going bid turbo on a 139k mile 16 Focus ST, mostly highway miles, with pretty little abuse comparatively. Is the motor to old to go up to 350whp?

Does the removal of the balance shaft makes a difference, like more vibration or is it really needed in the car? Thx.

Angelo Lopecuazto Bsd is a great way to free up power and responsiveness. When I had stock mounts when I first swapped it, the vibrations weren’t bad at all.

The balance shafts are there to cancel out bad vibrations alot of 4cyl engines have them.i would say removal without a way to properly balance vibrations might hurt the engine in the long run.

@tbr.performance

Donald Carner It all depends on how the v-band flange is connected to the turbo. In my case, it’s a 5 bolt adapter that goes to a v band. It’s just unfortunate that I’ve ran into the issue multiple times.

Why do you rev up slightly before shutting the car off?
@tbr.performance
@tbr.performance 4 жыл бұрын
Josh Moore So I do it just as a precaution but basically, when you shut an engine off it’s good to maintain a decent amount of oil pressure. When you rev the car up, you increase the oil pressure while the engine is shutting off eliminating any chance that bearings or any other engine components are starved of oil. It’s not absolutely necessary but I do it whenever I remember.

Kooletron174 C Just lock tight won’t work. It gets too hot. The ultimate fix for this is eliminating the 5 bolt flange all together (aka external WG).
