Larry Bird was the same exact way. Him and Magic were on Letterman one time and he explained why he was an a-hole to Magic and his response was Magic was always happy and came out with this huge smile so Larry’s goal was to try and take a few of those teeth home with him. That was just his killer edge that so few athletes have/had.

That’s true if you are friends or admire the person you are playing against you don’t compete at your highest level because if you compete against them eventually the relationship breaks apart or the person you admire you start not like them anymore

Its only helped with soccer National teams. Take England's early 2000s squad for example - "the Golden Genration". Probably the best group of talent the country as a whole ever had. Almost every single one of them are considered a legend now - David Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes, Rooney, Michael Owen, Ferdinand, John Terry, etc. But they NEVER accomplished shit on international/world stage together. Simply because they could not overcome their club rivalry & hatred on one another. Beckham said it was so bad... they wouldnt even eat lunch together. lol Nowwwwww, look at England's team, they have been 5 times more succesful with half the talent... been pretty damn good last few years just they push club rivalries aside and are friendly with one another. aNYWAYY - Pretty interesting how much emotions and friendship can affect team sports.

He held a grudge against Eli and the giants for messing up his perfect season, and when he got his redemption he failed again 😅

I hold a grudge against Mike for beating John Stockton 2X.

And for whatever reason Stockton couldn’t get past Magic in the 1988 Finals. I was a huge Bird fan and didn’t want Magic to get one more over Larry Legend. I loooove Brady’s thorough kick ass attitude on the field. His fiery temper led to so many inspirational moments and might I say privileged joyful moments watching Tommy operate at such an unbelievable elite level. Brady will surely be missed

@@robertweir5313 Utah always had tough competition out West. Houston, Seattle, San Antonio, Phoenix, Portland, Los Angeles. For them to get to the finals back to back as an old team was still impressive. I agree about Brady. I never took for granted the opportunity to watch him play because I knew it was history and the end of an era.

He’s referring to his alter ego “Psycho Tom”. You do not want to unleash Psycho Tom, just ask Honey Boo Boo Tyron Mathieu 😂
