As far as the restrictor is concerned, I haven't seen anything before. And I've been doing some VW and Audi but late 70's. "we" used to plug the valve cover and pull down the hose under the engine. but not allowed as it is part of the exhaust gas purification. By the way I have my VW Golf CAB. still (in Europe called the Golf model) think it is only called Rabbit in North America. It is manufactured in 1979. also red. Too bad you live a bit away from me otherwise you would have been able to start welding on it 😉 But I live in Sweden. But your videos have inspired me to start the renovation.
