Just a quick data point: I wanted to make a very flush set of 4 valves to put into my head while polishing the combustion chambers on a BP4W Miata head. I threw old valves into a metric collet on my milling machine, threw a lathe tool into the vise and used it like a lathe. The valves were not hardened or work hardening. It would be possible to modify a full set of these valves using machinist techniques to make them all the same. If they had been 304 or something like that, it would be difficult at best. Not sure if this holds for all makes of valves. If you are here, more power to you!

For dummy chamber grinding valves, I just use a hand drill and bench grinder. David Vizard does his Back-Cuts that way. For "some things" the mod itself is most of the gain, being very precise n consistent isn't that much more or any "sometimes". If DV is happy using his eyes to back-cut valves, then that's good enough for me.

@@BOOT Funny, I think I saw the video you are talking about this week. DV knows his stuff. I wish he'd given a few more specs about his grinds, but I suppose you don't want to give it all away. Oh well, my motor is together and I'm hopefully I'm not pulling it apart for a long time.

Is That Ridge Or Lip On The Exhasut Valve An Issue If Some Exhasut Valves Have It And Some Do Not? For Some Odd Reason I Got A Set Of CNC Ported Heads With Larger Valves etc. They Forgot To Shorten The Valve Guides For More Cam Lift Clearnence So I Did That My Self. When I Had It Apart And Inspected All The Valves And Seats I Noticed 2 Of The 6 Exhasut Valves Had No Ridge On Them While The Rest Had The Ridge. (this is a 6 cylinder 2 valves per cylinder engine). Do You Think This Is Going To Be An Issue If Some Valves Have The Ridge And Others Do Not On The Same Cylinder Head? This Is A Turbocharged Engine. What's Weird Is The Valves That Do Not Have The Ridge Sit Further From The Head Requiring A Longer Pushrods On Those Valves About .025" Longer (hydraulic lifter engine). It Took Me 2 Years To Get These Cylinder Heads And I Just Want Things To He Right If Something Is Not Right.

I've never heard of or seen reversion going all the way back into the intake manifold runners, it seems impossible to me, like how does the engine even run, you must have cam timing with a super early opening intake coupled with a horrendously poor flowing exhaust. That staining looks more like heat cooking fuel in the boundary layer, how hot you runnin this thing ? Are you running a shit ton of cam advance ? Also it seems to me not back cutting your intakes would make the situation even worse not better ? i think your thinking that one backwards ?

@@BOOT i don't have an issue with mod....its the method used, high error and unrepairable damage... The mating area of both valve and seat are precision work... no regular desk press drill nor hand can do such work.. Valve mating angle has little to no noticeable effect when turbo charge.
@BOOT3 жыл бұрын
@@willis23jm1 The method is in a book, again it's old school well proven. It doesn't compromise the sealing angle of the valve to the seat unless you hold it at that same angle or otherwise hit it. Which can be easily checked with some dykem or a sharpie after. I suggest you do some research on the subject.

I understand your..."thought" process. But why are you installing a bigger cam.. your installing it for more power right? Why would you hinder that if this theory works and lose power .. especially a 30-40- or even a 50hp loss. Makes no sense. If it isn't fouling plugs which it shouldn't cares about exhaust in the intake. That's "normal" for high lift overlapping camshafts. Your thinking too much into your "hotrod" build. Whomever told you that you bought it but it's definitely a mistake. Need to make a video on how this was a mistake. Period. You'll get more likes
