This AMAZING performance by the MAGNIFICENT/PHENOMENAL So Hyang, is even more IMPRESSIVE, given the fact that she is not well here. Prior to the event, So Hyang had been released from the hospital, still recovering from one of her numerous bouts with pneumonia. Her physicians advised her to cancel the performance, to not speak, and just rest. However, So Hyang did not want to disappoint the audience. After this performance, she thought her singing career was over, and she disappeared from singing in public for two years. Fortunately, in 2020, she resumed public singing, sounding better than ever. In 2021, in my opinion, her vocal range is even more RIDICULOUS than it was before. See for yourself. A video was just released today, of So Hyang singing, 'O Holy Night', which appears to have been performed some time earliet this month.

I often have to pinch myself to make sure I am experiencing reality when So Hyang sings. There is no one else in the world who moves me with her singing like So Hyang does. She has that selflessness to everything she does such that we are invariably drawn to her. And when she sings! She can do whatever she wants, her talents are so colossal! When she sits down to work out the arrangement of a song, the entire family and her musical associates join in. So we are hearing the accumulated result of some very gifted musicians when we hear So Hyang perform a song. They go over it all with a fine tooth comb and work it out to suit everything that So Hyang can do with her voice, because they know what she is capable of. We just sit back in astonished wonder that any human can sing on such an altogether different level! 😉💖👌🎶😏

Spesso devo darmi un pizzicotto per assicurarmi di vivere la realtà quando canta So Hyang. Non c'è nessun altro al mondo che mi commuova con il suo canto come fa So Hyang. Ha quell'altruismo per tutto ciò che fa in modo tale che siamo invariabilmente attratti da lei. E quando canta! Può fare quello che vuole, i suoi talenti sono così colossali! Quando si siede per elaborare l'arrangiamento di una canzone, l'intera famiglia ei suoi associati musicali si uniscono. Quindi stiamo ascoltando il risultato accumulato di alcuni musicisti molto dotati quando sentiamo So Hyang eseguire una canzone. Ripassano tutto con un pettine a denti fini e lo elaborano per adattarsi a tutto ciò che So Hyang può fare con la sua voce, perché sanno di cosa è capace. Please excuse me for not replying in Italian, I am hoping you are better at understanding English ( Thankyou for the English subtitles). Sohyang was sick during this performance, the doctor had told her not to sing as she was not yet recovered from pneumonia, but she didn’t want to disappoint the audience. One can only imagine what the performance would’ve been if she had been 100% healthy!! I think you should react to her more recent performances done during COVID-19, in more intimate settings with only piano & guitar for musical accompaniment ( we call it ‘busking’). She participated in a project called ‘begin again Korea’ & here her amazing vocals are on full show. Choose any performances of sohyang’s from this series but I would start with her amazing rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘ I will always love you’ ( orig. written by Dolly Parton). Then there are a number of covers to very well known songs of recent years, ‘I won’t give up’ by Jason Mraz ( bring your tissue’s) ‘If I ain’t got you’ by Alicia Keys ‘Stuck with you’ by Justin Bieber & Ariana Grande ( duet with Crush) ‘Let’s Marvin Gaye’ by ? ( duet with Henry) And if you would like to see this wonderful lady rapping ( yes I did say rapping!!!!) then you should check out the performance of the song ‘Day Day’ , which had other members of the ensemble singing also but it is mainly Sohyang. Although the other members of the ensemble are younger popular singers themselves, and probably more familiar with the rap genre, it was decided that Sohyang would do the biggest part of the rapping quite simply because she was the best rapper. In rehearsals the other singers really had a hard time with the speed they had to produce the lyrics, but not Sohyang, it appears this angel of the singing world can literally sing any genre of music. Then there is my personal favourite from this series of shows, her rendition of Ella Fitzgerald’s ‘Misty’, yet another different genre with this blues/jazz number. There are many many unbelievable performances from Sohyang in this series,everything she participates in is fantastic, both English songs & songs in her native Korean. Throughout the series the camera can be seen panning to the audiences & often showed audience members either crying or having a complete look of shock on their faces as she is singing (the audiences were very small & wearing masks at each venue due to social distancing, which made it very intimate). Finally I have one more suggestion, another performance recorded during the pandemic. This is one of those very rare occasions that sohyang’s performance is not a live performance, instead it’s a music video which she doesn’t do often but you know from watching her other live performances that she had the ability to sing it live if she wanted to. I personally prefer live performances but I suggest this video, which is her rendition of the song ‘Never Enough’ from the film ‘the greatest showman’ because of obviously the amazing vocals but I think you will also enjoy the concept of the video. I can’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil the surprise but I can assure you that is the same high quality as all her other performances, so well worth 5 minutes of your time.
