For those who don't know, this beautiful melody comes from a Cambodian singer named Ros Serey Sothea, she was murdered during the Khmer Rouge reign. I think it is important to give her credit. Thanks for all and RIP MF Doom and Ros Serey Sothea

Funny story. I found this five or six years ago and used to listen to these instrumentals all the time. That Omegah Red Doom is For the Children album of instrumentals, certain songs always on loop. A few months ago I was in the Midwest for my buddy Josh’s wedding. And on a Friday or Saturday night a couple of us went bar hopping and ended up at this bar cade. It was cool, but kinda too Midwesty you know ? So my friends were boring me a bit so I did a lap around the upstairs part of the bar, and this guy pulls me aside and says we need to play ski ball cause they need a 3rd person. So we play ski ball lol. And there’s probably five or six of them so we’re all getting in on it a bit. Either the dude had a tattoo or he mentioned something hip hop so we started getting into it a bit and he mentioned he’s a producer. He looked about my age and he said his name’s Omegah Red. I called cap and so he showed me his Spotify numbers and everything. I opened up my Apple Music and he saw his album there. it was a cool feeling cause you can tell most people don’t recognize his name so to be around someone who could discuss his work with him must’ve been a great feeling. Not sure how we ended up meeting both of us out of state in a random ass bar but it was pretty cool and we got to talk about a lot of music. He said he made books of war when he was 15 if I remember correctly. Good dude.

To sum up, a Japanese producer (Omegah Red aka Poison Flowerz) mashed some hip hop tracks from an underground British artist (MF Doom) and a mainstream American rapper (RZA) with a song by an obscure Cambodian singer (Ros Sereysothea) who mysteriously went missing long ago in some crazy totalitarian regime (the Khmer Rouge). This track shouldn't exist. It's a miracle we're sitting here listening to it.

@Bilbo Fappins Call it karma. The song is Kaun Komsott, a beautiful song from Cambodia by Ros Sereysothea. During the Cambodian genocide in the 70s, many artists were murdered including Sereysothea. The regime attempted to essentially erase Cambodian culture and music records were destroyed en masse. Viktum was a dick about hiding the source but I am glad this song lives on (and its still an amazing sample. It's got one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard and the story behind it is so stark and sobering.

its really nice but no one seems to notice that the vocals are completely out of time with the beat? good though don't get me wrong, the original herbalizers track was great too.

@@VicVegaTW the out of time nature of the vocals give them this glimmering avant-garde kilter that elevates this track to another dimension.

For anyone curious about the image, it's from a manga called "Lone Wolf and Cub". It's an older manga from the 1970s and was written by Kazuo Koike and drawn by Goseki Kojima. It's one of the greatest manga ever produced and is hauntingly beautiful, incredibly violent, and I cannot recommend it enough.

I never thought this image was from a manga I just thought of it as just a drawing. A few years ago I went to a comic and manga store at Athens. An old man was the owner of the shop and we started talking about manga and he suggested me reading lone wolf and cub. Went back home googled it, after reading a few pages I see this one!!
