Nice video! I have a 1000SP as well and I was wondering which mirrors you have mounted in this video? The originals look great, but are very hard to find...
@VAMIRACING Жыл бұрын
thanks for the note. as for the mirrors, i took those "universal-spiegel" with the cat nr 10028301 from www.louis.de which have a thread on top.....and modified them a bit to fit them on the original mirror-holder ....i would think you can get similar ones anywhere on youtube as well. cheers and have fun with the SP

@@VAMIRACING Thanks for your input. Perfect, that sounds like a great idea! Since they are round, they look a lot like the original ones. :)

Nice ride! I always enjoy your Guzzi videos. I own a SP1000 from 81 myself but not standard as yours. I noticed you are shifting up way sooner than I normally do on mine, your average rpm seems to be

glad you like my movies :) in the stock setting, this bike rides indeed nicely even uphill at low rpms. a part from the lafranconi pipes and a K&N filter, everythink is stock including carbs and cam... i am tempted to say the stock airbox gave a nicer riding too, on the next occasion ill put that back in although a nightmare to replace air filters on that model.... i believe your larger carbs will give you more power on higher rpm but cut away torque on the low side as there wont be enough airflow to run smoothly.... .is your cam still stock....and the flywheel?

Thanks for your reply. Makes sense the bigger Carbs change the characteristics like you say. I also have short straight manifolds which may add to the equation too. When I bought it, it was with the original square slide carbs but they were badly worn so I never experienced a regular standard setup. CAM and flywheel is standard as far I know, I consider to lighten the flywheel once I need to replace the clutch plates but just leave it as is for now. It's actually quite alert when I flip the gas already. Any good suggestions on CAM in case I want more mid/high end power? i dont want to discourage you from modifying your SP as it is part of the fun to make it individual, but maybe an idea to try a stock SP first, when you have the occasion, and see i you like the stock "tractor" like characteristics of the bike or prefer the more revvy one you got now and then decide where to move on..putting back stock carbs is probably easier then starting to make the SP engine more sporty, including modifications on the cam, exhaust, airbox, heads, flywheel.....also, a SP in the stock optics/engine is getting really seldom and close to a LM1 pricewise....as guzzi in general is booming, i would today recommend to keep your bike as original as possible, have fun and resell one day with gain. so better chose the right model (a tractor or a sporty one) than try make a LM1 out of a SP....if you want to see its market value increase, because collectors, willing to pay the price, are turned down by modifications.

You're right about stock vs modified. On the other hand is my SP already "spoiled" as you may see on my link so I'm not able to go back to stock even if I would ;-) I even don't have the standard parts onhand. In the end I probably just keep it as is and enjoy what I have - tractor or not ;-)
