A note on safety as a solo female traveling in Mexico: I believe that much of the messaging that we receive about Mexico (or other countries in general, for that matter), are rooted in fear. The news portrays other countries as scary, unknown, or even dangerous as a way of marketing their broadcast, leading to misinformed beliefs about regions and cultures around the world. As a solo female, I believe the best thing that you can do, regardless of WHERE you are traveling, is to trust your gut. I have researched and planned my route, I have internet and/or SOS device access around the clock, and family who know where I am at all times. With this in mind, and a bit of conversational Spanish to boot, I have felt exceedingly safe in Mexico thus far, and have recently decided to begin planning a longer trip through South America as a result. My hope is to share this journey with you all to showcase what I believe international travel really is - a way to connect with other cultures and landscapes, and explore our biases for/against other cultures, based on stereotypes that we have been fed in popular media. I hope you'll all come along for the ride ❤

We’ve spent the winter traveling Central America and are crossing to Colombia next week in our van. And yet, nowhere so far, equals Mexico for sheer joy, color and the vibrant culture and friendliness. We try not to tell each other we miss Mexico every day… enjoy it all.

It runs on 110 volts unless you have the nerve to convert. It uses 5amps of 12 volt power each hour it’s on.
