Richelle's words about Shadow Kiss: No other book I've written has generated such a big fan response as this one. No other book I've written takes such abuse from fans. Seriously--you wouldn't believe how many copies show up at my signings that have been thrown at walls. Five years after its release, I still get email from people reading it for the first time who are just shocked and emotionally shaken as those who read it when it first came out. This was the game changer in the VA series, and even for me, after over twenty other books, it stands out as one of the most powerful things I've ever written.

I so understand your pain and loss of Dimitri! It killed me too! I'm glad that you are reading it with all the books out, because I read Shadow Kiss and had to wait for Blood Promise! It was literally torture!! My heart had been ripped out and I didn't know where to go from there! I'm rereading the series at the moment and am on Frostbite, so I'm sure my heart will be completely shattered all over again! I love Adrian, he grew on me! He really did! Can't wait to hear what you think of the rest!! :-)

I love Rose. Easily my favourite YA heroine ever. She's so fierce. Confident, bold, brave, beautiful, loyal, she's got everything going for her. I love this series so much and I hope the movie is successful so we can see all these books come to life. The end of book 3 ripped my heart out too, but the book that had me breaking down sobbing was book 4. That bridge scene and "I will always love you!" ... I seriously, couldn't read a word for 10 minutes I was crying so hard. Mead is an amazing writer! Love her spinoff Bloodlines series and hope you continue with that one!

IchibanOjousama I'll save my judgment for when I see the movie. The trailers have not impressed me at all and I'm nervous that they are going to ruin it for me (and everyone), but I'm hopeful that they are just making it look bad so my expectations are low and I'll come out of it pleasantly surprised! I did enjoy Mean Girls, so we'll see. Right now it just looks like one big joke. But I'm hoping the movie is a combination of serious and funny - as the books are.

And yes, Adrian is a very important character. He's even the main character in the spin-off series Bloodlines!

I really love this series so much. I came to the Vampire Academy series pretty late. I only started reading them after Last Sacrifice was published and I felt really left out by how much love the books were getting. I thought the third book in the series was SUCH A SURPRISE. Richelle Mead does not shy away from throwing in some gasp-worthy twists and turns.

I love first reactions to Shadow Kiss, though I feel your pain- even re-reading it hurt. Of course I love Rose- and I really love the friendship she develops with Christian- so much fun. I actually really love Jeanine too, and Abe- you've read the fourth book so you've met him now right? I do love Adrian too, though it definitely took the Bloodlines series to really grow my love for his character. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series :)

Shadow Kiss just blew me away. Damn cliffhanger! It feels! I hate Rose in Last Sacrifice though. I'm more of Adrian Ivashkov than Dimitri Belikov.

I didn't even realize I was rooting for Rose and Dimitri until Shadow Kiss. Like I was so excited that they were making plans and figuring things out and then OF COURSE Richelle Mead rips my heart to pieces! But I'm reading Blood Promise right now and I just love Adrian. Not sure how I feel about the new girl, Avery, though. I'm a little suspicious.

I love this series so much. Vampire Academy was so fun and amazing. The thing with Natalie blew my mind. I could not believe that happened. Then I read Frostbite and that was even better. I almost cried when Rose's mom was comforting her. It was so beautiful. Shadow Kiss was definitely the game changer. I was so happy for Rose and Dimitri then he turned...it still hurts to think about it and I read that two years ago. I think Adrian is a sweetheart but he'll never compare to Dimitri. What did you think of Rose going after Dimitri? I had mixed feelings.

Ugh i remember when i was reading the third book i literally threw a hissy fit (haha :D), i was so annoyed and heartbroken haha. I can't wait to see what you thought of the rest of the series!

DIMITRI AND ROSE FOREVER... But not anymore... She has to kill the man she loves.. One mistake can ruin everything... Life or death.... Sacrifice or Turture..What will you choose? Kill dimitri to stop the suffering or...cry and never move on knowing the man you love is strigoi??

Hmm...I'm still just not sure if I want to read this series or not. I don't know...it just doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy that much. Bits of it sound kind of interesting, but the rest, not so much for me personally. Great review though! Watched the first 4 minutes where you were talking about the first book (didn't want to be spoiled in case I do decide to read this later).

I had the same reaction to the ending of Shadow Kiss because YOU CAN'T TAKE DIMITRI FROM ME, WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE. I bet Richelle love peoples reactions to that ending.

The series really goes get better with every single book! I have to admit I was one of those people that got confused for a little bit lol!
