Alyssa Long Yeah but it is mostly all about family, Elena was so sad when all her family died that they spent 3 episodes on Elena turning her humanity off because of how broken she was with no family, they spent a whole season on fighting with Damon’s and Stefan mum and then she died and Stefan was so sad and of course Stefan and Damon act like they hate each other but in the end, they showed their love for each other.

That entire section of letter is filmed over Damon and Elena for that reason. Damon would rather she be a vampire than die. His character isn't written to trust an elixir that's never been tested. He has a hard time trusting to begin with. And I don't think John would've trusted the elixir either. Elijah himself said it may not work. Elena didn't care. John and Damon ensured her survival.

The letter scene actually foreshadows damon's love for elena. He never gave up on elena even when she turned into a vampire unlike stefan. He himself tells stefan in season 4 that he loves her either way. He will always keep loving her no matter what form she is in. Rayna isn't immortal. She was linked to the 8 people who sacrificed themselves in order to grant her power. Once she gets killed, one of the 8th body dies as well. If she gets killed 8 times, she dies too. Her remaining life span was the same as of normal human being. Bonnie got that remaining time, so once she gets old, she will actually die.

We don't know yet, nothing has been confirmed. In one of her latest quick interviews, the interviewer asks if she can say anything about TVD, her manager said that they can't talk about that, and Nina said all I can give you is a smile. I think the possibility of her coming back for the final episode is pretty high, but it is possible that she doesn't return at all.

Are you critisizing the quality of the show/scene or just the way it portrays the books? Because i dont think Julie has intended the show to be very similiar. I love the books and the show seperately while enjoying the small similarities and finding myself in the same universe. I definately prefer having Jeremy exist in the show over Meridith (Elenas sister) from the books who probably would have an annoying little child actor. This along with other changes like Tyler being sexy and the quickly developed and strong protagonism for Damon simply made the story more fit for TV, in my opinion. :)
