@@Aaron-vr4yr The irony of her celebrating Heems...who I liked until he dropped a homophobic verse. Obviously to her that's fine for a minority to do, to oppress a minority like me? And MIA's politics are really problematic. I say that as a fan, but she's fine with excusing terrorism, even though I think there is just cause there, that is not good.
@realfingertrouble3 жыл бұрын
@@Aaron-vr4yr also putting an American 10's lens re: racism over Belle and Sebastian's Scottish/UK very 70's-80's based work is all kinds of wrong. That band references a very different time, and also culture and place. I don't think dropping desi beats and going reggae would really suit their schtick! And would be appropriation. So people cannot talk about their own worlds? I thought that was the key thing about rap or artists, they talk about their own experiences, rather than pretend it was all multicultural and mixed, while Scotland has less apartheid/segregation than the US it also very white back then, and still is mostly.

Amazing! Rainbow Rowell’s best book in my opinion. It’s set in the US in 1986, and Eleanor and Park sit next to each other on the bus and slowly fall in love. The writing is beautiful (so much so that I’ve gone over my favourite quotes with a rainbow highlighter!) and is written so that it feels real, and imperfect, and full of confusion since they are still only 16. I’ve read it multiple times now, and I love it so so much. I could go on about it forever but I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up (in case it’s not their cup of tea) and I think it’s best read not knowing too much about it. I got it for Christmas a few years ago and I remember just sitting by the fireplace for hours, just curled up and reading this book.
