Christopher O'Neil 110% perfect. I generally respect Heyman...I love ECW, rather the memory of post-millennial real ECW but Heyman should have booked and had someone else running the machine. W/o knowing I always sort of want to say that Heyman ia likely greedy, obviously not a great decision maker. Like you said...Vampiro was custom cut for real ECW.

This is why I respect the hell out of Vampiro. ANYBODY ELSE would have lied there ass off and swore up and down they turned down big money to go to ECW but Vampiro comes off here as a legit honest straight up guy. I don't know him personally but the more shoot interviews I watch of him the more respect I have for him.He gets a bad rap from a lot of people. Watch the behind the scenes video for the backyard wrestling game where he was power bombing New Jack through a fence and was afraid of hurting him and you'll see how much he cares about his friends.Just my opinion .

Apparently Vampiro and Konnan had some nuclear heat between them back then. Konnan was Paul E's contact for getting luchadores in ecw. perhaps Konnan had something to do with Vampiro not getting into ecw.

+Jack Edge Raven? He had heat with Raven? Whenever I hear the words "heat" and "Raven" in the same sentence, it's usually the case that Raven has attracted heat to himself for pissing someone off. As for Raven quitting WCW and going back to ECW in 1999, basically, Raven/Scott Levy had gotten tired of the WCW product and was not satisfied with the way the company was going. So, during a locker room meeting involving all the wrestlers and the staff, held by Eric Bischoff, Bischoff said something along the lines of "if anyone isn't happy with things, feel free to leave and walk out the door", which Raven did. Unfortunately for Raven, he couldn't go straight from WCW to WWF, because of a clause in his contract I believe. So he went back to ECW and stayed there for a year before moving on to WWF for that piss-poor run he had there thanks to Vinnie Mac and WWF creative. Vampiro had nothing to do with any of that, he just happened to be paired with him at the end of his WCW run, along with ICP.

I remember watching Vampiro back in that time period and the question I kept coming back to was: Why isn't this guy in ECW, he was tailor made for that promotion? In hindsight, it worked out for Vampiro as he'd probably still be owed a solid amount of $ as are a lot of the the former talent...15 years later.

Paul Heyman missed a big one. And so did Vince later down the road. If either of them had used Vampiro and Raven the right way as a tag team and then a big feud in their primes it would have been prime time stuff. TNA figured that out years later which was cool but it would have been a bigger pop in ECW in that earlier timeline. Maybe they could have given wwf and wcw a bigger run for their money had this happened..

ECW was trying or rumored to acquire Vampiro, Kanyon, The Headbanger's and The Hardy Boys around 99-2000.... Let alone Indy wrestlers who went on to ROH when it first started.... Had this happened ECW would've lasted a bit longer

His shoot is tough to watch. What a talent, just wasted by American wrestling promoters. The way Sting and other American wrestlers just pissed on him. I couldn't make it thru it. Never been a Sting fan, and after this shoot I can barely stand to look at him. Sure there's two sides to every story though
