Installing a Dezod Green header and my thoughts after driving around with it for over 8 months. Also, when I mention the cost of the primary O2 sensor, I'm referring to the OEM sensor cost. I would stick with OEM for the primary O2 sensor if you need to replace it for some reason.
Note: The only difference with the install from video I linked below is that you will need to break in the catalytic converter right after installing it as per the instructions in my video.

You can actually make your own if you can get the CNT v2 header (Dezod red clone) and weld in your own cat. On a sidenote, my friend actually had the cat in his Dezod green fail, so his shop cut it out and put a new one in.

At 3:55, I do agree other brand for headers don’t have cats, but magnaflow are the only brand that they do have cats while Dezods have as well.

I am not aware of Magnaflow having anything other than a secondary catted mid-pipe and muffler for the tC2. They do not have a header as far as I know.

Hey Derrick, I ended up buying a Dezod Green header that was miraculously brand new. The previous owner never installed it and sold it to me. The issue being, I keep getting a P0420 code thrown even with an O2 spacer. Curious if you have had the same CEL issue or not? I love the extra power and sound it makes, but considering going back to stock CAT and selling it. The CEL comes on randomly after reset. Sometimes a month, sometimes a week. I keep my OBD2 reader in the car and reset as it happens.

Hi Derrick so im coming back to this video to ask if the header as long as you have had it has had any effect on the plastics in the engine bay since you have no shield on it. Im currently converting a CNT discontinued header into a Dezod Green copy so I am debating if I should just leave it as is, or ceramic painting the header to protect the plastics/connectors from the heat

Eventually. I've been hearing some good things about the OV tuner and some of the power people made on the Dyno, but I still want to wait on it. I just want to make sure that whatever method I use to tune the engine will be the most reliable.

I hear you. I heard about the OV tuner as well but haven't seen any reviews. What about unichip piggy back tuner?

I've heard mixed on the Unichip as well. Some people say it made a difference, while others said otherwise. I did hear some good feedback on the OV Tuner from Jerome Junior in one of my Agency Power S-Pipe video. He said that got the advertised power when he got hit car Dyno'd. He believes that with full bolt-ons, 200 WHP is achievable..

It's not CARB approved because California is super strict with emissions.

No, you can use the stock midpipe and muffler with a header. It'll perform better with an upgraded exhaust, but it'll be louder.

The Dezod Green is ther only header with a cat out there. I highly recommend it.

My donut gasket is pretty lose falls off every time I have it on the green headers is that what yours was like?

I got my gasket from Dezod when I ordered it (I just added the link to the video description), and while it was a little loose, it didn't fall off. Once you bolt the s-pipe to the header, it should stay in place. If you are concerned, I would contact Chris at Dezod directly. Someone else mentioned to me that their gasket was also a little loose, but I believe it was fine after they installed it.

I know exactly the one. I removed the sensor sitting above it to make clearance for me to use a box wrench to get it out.

Did you use an impact gun when you removed the bolt off the pulley? I got the APSCTC2-130B.

I ended up bringing it to a shop since I no longer have an impact gun or compressor. They definitely needed an impact to remove it as well as someone sitting in the car pressing very hard on the brakes when they went to torque the new one on. Perhaps I'll throw up a short video showing the pulley along with the torque specs since finding the proper specs was difficult.

Thank you for the video. It’s the only one I’ve seen like this on the tc. I have a 2012, and I’m pretty sure my cat is getting clogged up. I’m not trying to buy a whole new header. Could I just take my header off and clean the cat out with cat cleaner or lacquer thinner? I appreciate it.

You could try that method. I've never done it myself, so I don't know how well it works. If you have an endoscope, maybe check and make sure the cat isn't actually damaged.

@@josephlunsford4629 very true, but while you may restore the flow to the catalytic converter, you may damage the the precious metals that actually make it function. Just something to keep in mind.

I just bought a dezod red header. Of course it's second hand. Guy doesn't have the donut gasket do I have to Dremel the original or is there an after market one I can purchase that's 2 1/2 inches?

None. Dezod Green was the only one. Your only options are keep the stock header, install a header (I recommend Weapon-R) and use an O2 spacer on the s-pipe, or find a 4-1 header with a large collector and cut that section out and weld in a high flow cat.

Hi Derrick, I have a quesiton for you. I have a 2013 Scion tC with CNT Racing Headers and Tsudo S2 Catback Exhaust. The headers are really raspy and I'm looking into buying the Dezod Green Headers. Do you notice any backfire or popping with the Dezod Green Headers when decelerating or downshifting?

knight yes, but generally only when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I think that's due to having a more free flowing exhaust though. It doesn't do it all the time.

I have the Agency Power crank pulley. Seems good so far. I've had it installed for over 2 years now. There's a debate on whether or not it's safe to install a crank pulley since it removed the harmonic dampener, but I've heard both arguments for this engine as well as a TRD tech saying it's safe on these engines. Now if I ever tuned the car for higher RPMs or got a turbo, I would definitely put my stock one back in place.

No, I did not ceramic coat them. I haven't had any issues with heat to even worry about that, and this is my daily driver. I've taken it on 4+ hour long road trips during the summer without any issues.

I heard the red once. The rasp wasn't as bad as other headers, but it's still there. You may be able to tune it out or at least tone it down with a resonator. I would check other KZbin videos and see if anyone has a clip of the red while actually accelerating.

I get asked this all the time, but unfortunately I didn't measure the bolt. I simply took the bolts that came with my header and just got longer ones. Just buy more bolts then you think you need and then return the ones that don't work. Make sure you get grade 8 or better.

No tune needed along with a cold air intake like the one you have?

The stock ECU has a little leeway for basic bolt-on modifications, such as a properly designed intake (meaning correct ID for the MAF tubing and proper MAF placement for optimal air flow across the sensor). Getting a tune will deliver better results, but the engine will run fine without a tune.

Could I use a regular header with no o2 sensor hook up and have a bung welded on there to avoid the check engine light?

The secondary O2 sensor that monitors emissions and causes the check engine light is in your s-pipe between the manifold and mid-pipe. If you buy a header, it will have a bung for the primary O2 sensor which monitors your air fuel ratio.

@@mjwheelz1406 only if the new header doesn't come with a cat. The Dezod Green is the only header with a cat for the 2011-2016 tCs.

The catless Weapon-R is supposed to make good power and it does sound good, but sometimes they require an O2 sensor extension for the cable to reach.

Unfortunately I didn't record the size of the bolt I used. I just took the one that came with the header to Home Depot and found one with the same diameter and thread pitch, only longer.

I don't recall the specs at all. Just wait till the header shows up, then take the bolt to hardware store and get a grade 8 or better bolt. I think the length I got was 2.5".

Jason Neuschmid yes, you need to access the two spring loaded bolts connecting the s-pipe to the manifold from underneath.

Jason Neuschmid just be sure to pick up some longer grade 8 bolts in case you have problems with the ones that they ship you to connect the s-pipe to the header.

Hi, I had my friend installed the dezod green headers in July 2017 and in early November 2018 I had a check engine light come on. I took it to Auto zone for the error code & it was PO420, then I took it to the dealer and they told me it was the cat going bad. They reset the ECU and the CEL went away, today 12/14/18 I had the CEL come on and is for the same code PO420. My friend told me 95% is the O2 sensor, what you think is the problem?

Did you guys do the cat break-in procedure like I mentioned in my video? If not, it could cause the cause the fail prematurely. I got a P0420 on mine as well and I dropped money on a new O2 sensor, but that didn't resolve it. Looking back on it, I did get the code right after I installed a larger s-pipe (where the O2 sensor sits). If you still have issues, you could try contacting Chris Harrell at Dezod or use the fix I applied at kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpK5YZ6vidqonsk.

Aquino Hi, yeah I was talking to Chris @Dezod when I took my car to the dealer, I was there 4 hrs and they finally tell me it was my cat going bad. I was exhausted text messages with Chris on what was going and what the dealer was telling me. I also got the diagnostic paper showing everything, he also said if my goes in a straight line on the live scanner is good, if it goes in waves (which mine was doing) they say my cat is going bad.

Hey Derrick, It's me again. I just got the Dezod Green Headers installed on my car about 9 hours ago. I'm worried because the rasp is still there. Will the cat expand the more I drive the car or am I stuck with the rasp? Thanks.

Derrick Aquino Yes, I did the cat break-in process. And I have a Tsudo S2 catback exhaust with stock s-pipe. My CEL isn't on so Im assuming the CAT is working

It might die down a little bit, but not by much. I have zero rasp, but I have the stock mid-pipe as well. Since you don't have a secondary cat and the primary one is now a high flow one, you will get some rasp, but it will be much less than had you installed a catless header. If it still bothers you, you can add a good resonator to the mid-pipe to tune it down.

Yes, but generally for the better if you get the right one. That would be something you need an experienced exhaust or performance shop help you to pick out though. I installed resonators on my last car to tune the exhaust note and it made it sound much better IMO.

That's the whole point of the Dezod Green. It has a high flow cat. The Dezod Red is catless.

It took 4 to 5 days to ship out, but I don't remember how long it took FedEx ground to get it to me.

Yes, though Dezod no longer exists so you can only find it used now. If I have to eventually replace my header, I would go with the 4-2-1 Weapon-R one.

Did you ever meet any tC 2.5 owners with a supercharger setup? I know there is a turbo kit for the car.

There are no superchargers for the second gen tC, only the first gen. The TRD superchargers had a lot of problems, so there are very few fully working ones out there.

@@gray_vz4535 no, but it's the simplest way to "make" a green header. Just make sure your shop has experienced welders.
