It was 1977 at Wimbledon stadium at a very muddy winter nationals and I use to watch that kind of Motorsport myself.

Look at the punishment the old vans were capable of taking. How much do you think the modern front wheel drive stuff can take? Look for the E reg Hyundai I10 that got taken banger racing. One (tiny) hit and it was done.

car van preservation was not done much in the 70s 80s . they were cheap to buy n plentyful . lot these were due 4 the scrap heap . raced at meetings like this . world of sport televised live banger racing from wimbledon winter nationals meeting

I recon the little Van was no match for the transit van if it was transit vs transit it would have been a good match. let's face it the transit wasn't built for speed but it was strong. transit company made a good veachle of its time. their was a wide range of transit veachle like transit box lorries camper's and other's.
