I love the way these Van Beuren cartoons look! Even amongst their extremely similar looking contemporaries, these cartoons look really unique. Their line weight is scraggly and fun; spontaneous and full of vitality. And every drawing is very diverse and interesting on its own. These characters aren't just completely round and consistent through out, they've got curved and sharp forms and even go off model. I also don't know how to explain this, but they've also got a bit of anatomy to them; they're not just simple blobs of rubber. Super cool.

You just nailed my thoughts on the studio (mainly foster era) tbh The artists in question were trained in the arts and could’ve rivaled Fleischer if they really wanted! But they didn’t, instead choosing to do well, the stuff they did I admit, Burt Gillett was better in terms of art but Foster was better in gags and overall weirdness

For those of you who are interested, the two mice are called Milton and Rita (Also known earlier as "Mary". But I personally prefer her second name, Rita). Also, how did Milton get so fat at the end of the cartoon? Was he so depressed that he downed a dozen pints of Ben &Jerry's before he left Rita's train car?

I remember I had this cartoon on a DVD. It didn’t have the original titles and had only a home movie opening title and had no closing credits. It ended with a clip from the Bosko cartoon “The Booze Hangs High.”

Actually he paid well, but a ton of the money went to legal fees involved with hiding all the stories about Minnie. She was apparently a bit of a floozy back in the day. She'd been to backstreet doctors so much she messed herself all up inside. That's why her and Mickey never had kids. Walt was actually instrumental in getting her back on her feet again. Bittersweet memories.

Animation Bliss! A lot of Van Beuren cartoons end with the giant head thing. Why? Who knows, or nose as the black nose often fills the screen. Odd how the rejection blew her knickers off. And twice! Another indication that early cartoons were not aimed at kids.

I remember seeing this as a kid when I was on my 13th birthday trip in Seattle. It was on some sort of DVD collection with aome sing along song with Christopher Columbus and directly after this cartoon with no end credits, there was some weird cartoon with ducklings waddling to a pond before going into the pond and disappearing into the pond and that's how the cartoon ended. The ending to this always spooked me for some odd reason.

5:05 is the vicious lion suddenly doing a tippy toe in the tulips dance with the ring master. The sudden change in the lion, for no apparent reason is humorous,...I guess. At 6:33 Rita Mouse, that was her name, apparently turns against Milton Mouse and laughs at his misfortune. Since Milton is now unavailable, the fickle Rita retires with the Ring Master to his wagon for some kissy face. We've already seen she likes smooching and apparently will do it with anyone. But that's as far as she goes, when the Ring Master tries to go farther, she attempts to return to Milton. But he has witnessed her activities and rejects the Jezebel, which causes her to lose her knickers. Perhaps if the Ring Master had known that was the way to do it, the cartoon would have had a different ending.

Only the earliest of the Aesop’s fables (done by Terry’s studio) were related to the actual fables of Aesop. All the rest just had morals that had the joke of being completely unrelated to the cartoon.
