Mike Anthony was/IS a double threat, awesome bass and powerful vocals. But I have to say that, after seeing what amounted to a true Van Halen outfit playing on that Kimmel-sponsored street concert they did, that Wolfgang (playing with his Dad and his Uncle Alex) was the equivalent to , if not the better of, Mike's work. Wolfgang is an awesome musician.

Alex gets more credit for Hot for Teacher than this one. Probably because Van Hagar is incredibly underrated. Despite their four straight #1 albums, David Lee Roth gets all the credit.
@nickbrevitz67474 жыл бұрын
Kent Horvath Then why did David’s sales steadily decrease after parting ways? He had a huge platform and following, put out two double platinum records, and fell off a cliff on his 3rd record. That’s despite having 2 of the very best guitar players in the world playing on those records. Van Hagar’s least successful album sold 3,000,000 copies, over 3 years after grunge hit, when David was playing Vegas showrooms. They sold over 16 millions copies of their 4 albums. Roth didn’t hit 5 million solo records sold, and he released 4 studio records in that time. VH1 is the ultimate album because Eddie had 6 years to write it, and he was blowing people’s minds on guitar. David is a good lyricist, but that’s about it. I’m not sure he ever makes it big without Eddie. I have no doubt Eddie makes it with or without Dave. And Sammy turned himself into a multi-platinum solo act without either of them...

I think David Lee Roth as well as Sammy Hagar, both gave fiery, and energetic contributions to one of the greatest rock bands that ever hailed. Both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar have unequal and unique styles that fired the bands style of playing for that particular time period. +Rick Williams There is one HUGE difference between to two. Even back in the 70's everyone knew that DLR was a shit vocalist yet was a great showman. Even when Van Halen was signed to their first deal they didn't want DLR and really only wanted to sign Eddie. Eddie is the sole reason DLR became anything at all. Now on the other hand...Hagar wasn't as flashy as DLR but Hagar is a true professional. His live performances were spot on and in the 4 times I saw Van Halen with Sammy, Sammy was never too drunk to remember the words. DLR constantly was too drunk and was barely able to perform. I never saw VH live with DLR and I'm ok with that. DLR is a studio guy, not a live guy. Lol although now DLR is more of a old queer now and I know Eddie gets a kick out of watching DLR go out on stage and make a complete fool out of himself, you see it with that smirk on Eddie's face. DLR owes EVERYTHING to Edward Van Halen. Maybe one day he'll actually admit to it.

This is my favorite van halen song. Eddie's riffs / composition / solo / and tone are the best. Also Alex's drums are awesome in this track too. Just an awesome song all around.

Yeah, this one has it all in that "VH" way for sure.

I think what I admire most about this song is how Eddie so perfectly matches the anger and frustration of the lyrics with his playing. Especially in the solo, you can hear the build up and release of pent up emotion present in a relationship out of balance and the back and forth of a confrontation at last ending in resolution. Astounding.
