Thank God I got to see Van Halen on the OU812 tour. Hagar was amazing. It was actually his birthday the night of the show so it was extra special. Seeing Van Halen was one of the best concert experiences of my life.

WE had seen Hagar Halen in the mid 90's at the Goruge in George Washington , mid concert band takes a break and sammy brings a bar stool to center stage and sings this song in front of 18 thousand people as i had one of them very few moments on life were i was so happy mind body and soul i dropprd a cpl tears . This brings back that memory and hands down one of the best profromers out there .

I know this is an old post. Does not matter. I have been a Sammy fan and a VH fan as a kid. When I found out that Sammy was going to replace DLR I was beside myself. When 5150 came out, I was not disappointed. What a fucking badass record. The title track is the hidden gem of the album. But Sammy brought a whole new element to the band. Both DLR and Sammy play guitar. But Sammy brought the magical gift of being a really good song writer that worked so well with Eddie. Great stuff.

It's nice to hear people appreciating Sammy, even saying he's better than Dave. I would agree he sings better than Dave. What I like about the old days of VH, was those early albums. The heavy riffs. Those are what got me into VH in the first place. And Dave was actually awesome back in the 70s and early 80s. But yeah, Sammy rocks, and Dave's days are kind of over. It happens.

I love everything VH has ever done but Sammy was my era, and to me the better, cooler, more talented singer. Dave was Dave and that was cool but he's a one trick pony. I was at a bar/restaurant in Folsom California years ago, when an older couple came in and sat next to me. The woman asked what I was drinking...."Its a Hefeweizen. Try it" So she took a drink of my beer lol, then she ordered one. After talking and laughing with my new friends for an hour, the woman says "Have you ever heard of the Red Rocker?" I looked at this 70 something year old woman and asked "Sammy?" She says YES! He is our son in law, and we are having a Christmas party next Saturday and Sammy and our daughter and the girls will be there, and Sammy always brings a guitar. We would love it if you came". She gave me their phone number and address, and told me to be there around 3PM. I was in shock. I was invited to a party with Sammy and family.....then, I realized I had promised my own girls that I would take them on a hike 3 hours away. I always kept my promises....always. I never even told my girls about this until a few years ago. My daughters said "Why didn't you pick us up and all 3 of us coulda gone to the party?" It was my biggest brain fart ever in my life! Hope to finally meet Sammy someday.
