The video that launched a guitar craze and shocked seasoned guitarists around the world. Her classical guitar training, seven or eight years of it, has given her amazing technique and finger dexterity. Classical guitar training also includes learning methods of string muting which budding rock and metal guitar players have to figure-out for themselves. Tina is soooo good.
@potatoman2442 Жыл бұрын
Not true. Distortion and overdrive make all the unwanted string noise extremelly obvious so string mutting is more important in electric guitar than in classical. Any competent guitar teacher will theach their students proper mutting thecnique no matter what kind of guitar they play or genre. Very nice! I was just a few years younger than Eddie when this came out in Vancouver, Canada (always at least 1/2 to 1 year behind releases in the States) and obviously was just amazed. Everybody and his dog were trying to get it down and of course there were some good attempts, very close... but not even. This young lady has the same attitude and dedication as I did way back then; Tina is hands down one of the closest and exact tribute players I have heard. Her technique is flawless and the reproduction of the sound is beautiful! With all the passable and not bad covers on social media nowadays, along with step by step videos and tablature note for note lessons it seems anyone and everyone has had a video uploaded here. But I think this girl actually listened to the cd over and over again to actually get the feel and atmosphere of the tune along with the acoustics and dynamics of Eruption. Man I had to lift that needle and repeat a couple of seconds over and over again wearing out two Lp records in a couple of weeks driving my parents, neighbour and the RCMP nuts but I wasn't happy with my rendition of it umtil it was almost 100%. Tina's vid here is nearly flawless and what I really dig about it is I can see that in a couple of places she seems as though she wasn't the happiest with a couple of the 64th hammers or the natural and pinched harmonics. (no one sees this but you toung lady) That is what a true guitar player and musician strives for as EVH did here and performs homages for; not to brag or showoff of showcase to other aspiring players that they are superior guitarists but to really show respect to virtuosos by getting it right. I realize I am a day late and a doolar short with my humble opionated comment but I just came across this vid and It moved me that much that I had too give Tina S a standing ovation and a couple of watches. Hope you are still playing and improving your knowledge and also helping others to enjoy the greatest instrument ever!! Peace and love ... always

All the failed guitarists and jealous guitarists are picking out the most random things wrong with how she played. I remember reading a comment saying her girly hands look bad on the guitar. Tina S. playing a great, speedy Van Halen guitar solo. Just 3 weeks ago someone already noticed the dislikes and commented: "1267 people just realized that after playing all their lives, they still can't play as good as Tina S at 14". That may be true. What makes someone watch a young girl performing like this and then decide they must 'dislike' it? Imagine someone who doesn't like guitar solo's. Or even someone who believes young girls shouldn't be busy 'copying' Van Halen solo's. Even those people would normally have the decency to either click the 'like' button or click nowhere at all. But apparently, for some people, 'disliking' an obvious 14 year old talent is their default reaction. Like they are pessimists who cannot create meaning and hope from seeing a good thing happening. It's probably a generation problem. Clearly SOME 14 year old girls can play like this - some people cannot really handle that. Many of our young people today do all sorts of amazing things - in the arts or even in science. They even show us how to think with more empathy about our world. Remember 15 year old Ann Makosinski who invented a flashlight that shines just by holding it in your hand? It was an idea she had in mind for people in countries where not everyone has access to the electrical grid. So they can read a book, for instance. There are many such examples, and it tells us that there is hope, there is creativity among the new generation. How can we 'dislike' this? No: how can we be so MISSING the point? Maybe some people are just... missing the goodwill to be human.

Why all the comments about no crazy faces? It is what it is and it's a great rendition. Watch her closely. There is a lot of concentration going on. It's also a very physical piece and there are moments when you can see how firm she is in her playing. I think there is a lot of emotion going on inside, but she has to concentrate on the technical, too. As far as making faces, I can think of some great emotional players that don't emote that way. My favourite version ever. Obviously without Eddie creating the piece and its innovations she wouldn't have been able to put this cover out, but IMO she certainly plays it better even than the great man did himself. Flawless.

And on this day, van Halen passed away and this comes up on my reccomended, just heartwarming RIP Van Halen, you will always be an inspiration to many and we will one day see you again in a better place

As someone who has seen Edddie play live at least a dozen times since 78, this is such an incredible tribute to one of the all-time greats. Tina is an amazing talent and I hope we get to experience her greatness, like we did with the late Eddie Van Halen. Rest in sweet peace, brother.

If you DIDN'T know this was a teenage guitar prodigy you would SWEAR it's Sir Edward Van Halen himself. She's something else. So awesome to watch and listen to a master of the fretboard like her.

Seriously, you think maybe we've been giving him too much credit all these years? Sure seems that way
@jameswhite84026 жыл бұрын
Considering he wrote the music himself at 17, no I don’t think we have given him too much credit. Now mimicking someone else’s music that was written over 40 years ago and practicing it over and over until it has been uploaded to KZbin with the perfect copy, that seems like credit is given too freely. Tina is very talented but she shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence as Eddie until she has written her own music., until then she is just copying the music of icons and her followers are none the wiser...
