22-years old when he recorded "Eruption". There's a prodigy! Still, my favorite Eddie Van Halen story is "Beat It". It took him UNDER an hour to improvise a solo, record it, and rearrange Michael Jackson's entire song to make it less "Pop" more "Rock". All for free with ZERO credit. Just to help another musician, just to create good music. Who the hell is like that anymore???

I remember watching this 10 years ago when I was young and just starting to learn guitar. Finally after all these years I still can't play it.
@thomasgrabowski22023 жыл бұрын
I spend 1.6 years playing my guitar (during lockdown) and another 2 vigorous years in my youth - with a 6-8 year hiatus before I picked it up recently again (1.6 year ago) and I'm just learning to tackle this beast of a monster. There is quiet an exceptional tutorial online by a guy called Mr. Tabs - I highly recommend you check his videos "Eruption Van Halen Cover | Guitar Tab | Lesson | Tutorial" It's quiet outstanding how accurately this man can play to EvH (and MANY of his other songs) I literally feel like he's channeling the spirit of Eddy when he plays (not to sound too much like a fanboy but he's quiet amazing). I'm practicing this song again (since I could play it but with horrific misaccuracy -- trying to figure out the pieces of the puzzle myself) but after giviing it a go again it really shows me what a freakin genius of a guitar player Eddie was and how respectable he IS in the guitar world because he too me won't ever die. Van Halen will always be around and we will always remember how he and the band changed the face of rock and roll history. 🤘🤘😁😁!!

Devastating, absolutely devastating. A ridiculously gargantuan loss to the rock/music world, the world as a whole, really. Eddie was the single greatest rock guitarist in history. He influenced generations of people to pick up a guitar, to practice more, to "feel" the music more. He will be terribly missed. My condolences to his family. My older brother learned to play because of Eddie's influence, always turning up the volume when Van Halen came on the radio. My brother passed away over 15 years ago at a ridiculously young age. Today, he is meeting his hero.

Eddie was one of those rare guitar players where he became part of his guitar and his guitar became a part of him while playing, they meld together. Kind of like making love to a woman you really love and never want to let that feeling go. That smile on Eddies face, he is just loving every moment of it, Eddie and guitar as one. I have seen VH three times in concert, and Eddie was like that every time I saw them. He never had a bad performance. RIP Eddie!

This was one of the last things I listened to with my dad back in February before he died. Just before lockdown, I suppose. We'd trade songs. He'd play Van Halen, I'd play Dragonforce. He'd play Pink Floyd, I'd play Disturbed. He'd play Ian Dury, I'd play Tenacious D. We shared all kinds of songs with eachother, but Van Halen, this solo inparticular, he'd always want me to find for him. I could never appreciate as much as he did at the time, but after he passed, I'd always come back to it. I hate that I could never love it as much as he did while he was still around. He wanted to share what he loved with me, but I couldn't do it in time. For some, this is a throwback to the past, for some kind of normalcy. For others, this will remain a fixture in current events, always in their lives. All that matters is that Eddie Van Halen is one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time, and always will be. I may not be well versed in all things Van Halen, but I know in my heart that they're above the rest and always will be. Thank you Eddie Van Halen for helping me forge memories with my dad, and may you Rest In Peace.

Only now that Eddie has passed is everyone realizing what many of us have been saying for decades. That this is the greatest guitar player who ever touched the instrument. An absolute apex predictor who played so outside the box that even to this day many people still don't see the genius of his playing. So many musicians over the years have cited the brilliance of Eddie Van Halen from other guitar masters like Slash. To country/pop stars like Shania Twain and Taylor Swift and obviously many many more. Eddie passing is sad, but the true tragedy is that unless you heard him live, you have never heard him. Their is no Audio recordings that even comes close to hearing the intensity and tone when it came right out of his cabinets on stage. This was the man who peeled the paint off the walls in every arena he ever played in, this was the man who was so good thst most of the time he was throttled back so as to allow his other band mates to hold on, and this is also the guy who apart from being part of the most insane band ever still managed to raise a fantastic and talented son, beat Alcohol, and gave all of us something to Remember. *To the OP: Yours is one of the absolute BEST comments I've read in the past several days since Eddie's passing. Not only did you so eloquently describe what made Eddie Van Halen so fantastical, so almost supernatural, (and to put it simply, just a pure legend), but you literally moved me to tears. It's nice to know that there are people like you out there who truly appreciate kick ass, iconic music, absolutely insanely artistic musical ability and, a general overall respect for a musician and his craft. AND, might I add....you did so beautifully and respectfully. Really awesome tribute! 👍 Rock on and be well from this random girl in N.Y..* ✌❤🎸🎶

@@jennylovesjoe1224 thank you, Eddie will always be "the rockstar". We can all only hope that somehow the stars align and something as amazing as Vanhalen can happen again and change the course of modern music. Take care.

Eddie Van Halen was a dictionary-definition, legitimate musical genius. But he was also just a *bro.* Easy to see why people loved him. #RIP

Blessed the ones who had the grace of attending a show like this

I guess that's me. I saw this tour/show in 1985. It was my second concert ever. Kiss Asylum tour was my first. Who really appreciates something like this until it's gone. It's kind of like me speaking with someone who saw Led Zeppelin live.

Remember ticket prices back then. I paid 40 bucks to see AC/DC 4th Row and I thought that was highway robbery lol.

Seen any play so many times live. He is so mesmerizing. You cannot take your eyes off him. You cry. It's just you cry because you're so happy watching him play. He is unbelievable. Just like Hendrix you know vy it's so weird. He's been gone for 3 years, almost four. It's tough we all grew up with Van Halen. I mean they started in 1972 as Mammoth. Then they changed their name in 1978 February when their first album came out. Per David Lee Roth too. Eddie Van Halen too Van Halen the rest is history. I've seen them live so many times. I'm happy I had that chance. I live in South Florida. Wbgg big 105.9 my station
