I shit a brick when they started playing that live again. One of 1984's highlights imo. Alex's snare tone on this song was on point. Great job on the song.

Thanks! GIven how much shit Ed took just trying to get 1984 recorded is amazing. With songs like this, he was proven right about the direction. Really a good example of not giving into pressure and trusting yourself.

@@TheRetroGuitarist Eddie was in such a inspired mode in that period. I just recently learned he had the main riff for Amsterdam around then. And Summer Nights.
@TheRetroGuitarist Жыл бұрын
Yea, I think between 1984 and OU812 was his peak. He had done the whole play a bunch a notes like no one else and was just playing to make things fit the song.

I knew it would be great because... 1. You have been blessed by God with the talents you have. 2. You did something similar to "Sick Of It", which is my favorite version. 3. You did something similar to "Skyfall", which is also my favorite version. 4. I could go on and on, but truly there is no need. Can't wait for what's next, you genius!

Ha!!! You even played the solo correctly!! You are the only one I have seen do that on YT (besides me...). Kudos on the unique approach to this and translating this to guitar - just spot on. I get the impression you are also a keyboard player? What a great departure from the standard covers of this tune.

I was messing around trying to learn this song on guitar too not long ago. You're right there is too much dissonance with distortion. I kept thinking my guitar was out of tune and i would tune it so one chord sounded good but then you went to the next one it was all out of whack lol. I was putting some flange on it and that sounded pretty cool but yeah it's hard with distortion to make it sound right.

Is that a warmoth 24 fret neck on a ibanez rg body? Do they just bolt up???
@TheRetroGuitarist Жыл бұрын
Yes it is the Warmoth neck and the Ibanez body! I bought the unfinished neck back in 91 or 92, put a satin lacquer on it, and bolted it on. It is still the easiest playing neck I have ever touched. Lots of great memories with this guitar.

Great job my friend. Isn’t this song in Db? I wonder if you could have layered in a dropped D baseline to give it some thump.

Thanks Sam. The original song is not tuned down a half step.

@@TheRetroGuitarist interesting, he usually opts for the flattened tuning. I think unchained is Db but it’s been a while since I’ve played. Hopefully one day that will change.
