@Brandon Near Sammy had a couple good albums with VH (I preferred him solo) and you are right they matured. If it was with Sammy or they would have done it on their own is a good question. It was pretty obvious that Ed would have. You also have to keep in mind, OU812 would not have sold in the time Women and Children First came out (1980). They were a young, raw band that partied all night played all day. Not middle aged married men who were raising families. It's like comparing a baseball player from the 1950's to today's specialized athlete. It's a different time and different place. I do know one thing. Without Dave's PA equipment back in the day VH would have never made it to a stage.

This was the actual peak of Van Halen as a band ever. The tightness, the scale of the operation, the list of hits, the voice, eddie's tone, there's a MILLION reasons why this specific era is the single highest peak of the history of Van Halen. Everybody will have their favorite eras, but I don't think it's really up for debate that they were never, ever a better band firing on all cylinders at the highest possible level in the music industry more than they were in this exact time period in this video.

Never a Van Halen fan until Sammy Hagar entered the picture. Most don’t agree I imagine, but between Hagar and the introduction of keyboards, it opened up a whole new world for them. RIP Eddie.

I always loved this song, so upbeat positive & happy. This live version sounds fantastic, a special kind of beat & groove to it. Love hearing Sam or Dave sing it, just a great song. Be nice if people would stop with the chest puffing ego of choosing a 'team' and beating the other team down with the Sam verses Dave stuff, who is better, what's wrong, when there is so much that is right about this song, just enjoy the music :)

Positive and happy? You may have missed the suicide issue..."go ahead and jump" (and how it was released in the news for similar issues)? You missed that, I'm guessing? It is positive in a manly "shit may be bad, but we make the most of things anyway"

I think God all the time that I was born in the era of Van Halen that I got to see them from the very beginning with David Lee Roth van Halen 12 women and children first diver down 1984 and then to see them with Sammy Hagar running the band and all the way to the very end. You talk about being blessed everyone of us that got to see this incredible band and I seen them many times in concert they always put on a great show yeah there was time is it Edward was pretty lit up but they were still great and I will always miss this band and how I keep them alive is by listening to their music still and turning on other people younger than me to them

Fresno California was never the same after this night! Thank you, Edward, for all your miracles including Wolf. He is not following in your footsteps, he's in them and is you 2.0.

In my opinion, this was Van Halen at their best.

+synthartist69 Seen both as well as Van Halen in L.A. when they first started out and it's just not Van Halen without Roth !
@Thermo-vd1ot8 жыл бұрын
+synthartist69 it was two different Van Halens, and there is nothing wrong with that. Jump however is a Roth song.

+Ron R seen every VH tour 1978 - present, HAGAR was better than GARY CHERONE though, but ROTH era was the best, VH Sold more albums with ROTH and LIVE they were untouchable from 1978-1984. It's not that I hate Hagar he just don't do ROTH Covers any justice, they have 2 different styles, Van Hagar was more Lovey Dubey Ballads, all the girls loved it when I put "Why Cant This Be Love" on the stereos at Partys yet the Guys were like FUCK THIS put PANAMA or AINT TALKIN BOUT LOVE on and lets PARTY!!! I preffered Hagar in MONTROSE!!!

I've never heard Sammy sing this song. He did a great job!! I've always preferred the original, but with Sammy its like getting 2 bands in one. Every single album Van Halen ever put out was stellar.
