Last stand? This song was released in the mid-1990s. This song gave Van Halen fans who didn't like Sammy Hagar as lead singer hope DLR was coming back and that really didn't happen.

It was the other way around. Eddie led Dave on about a reunion tour only to find out he'd hired Gary Cherone. And quite rightly, Dave took umbrage.

Love how 'all over the place' sing song is played. Remember first hearing it in a surf shop in L.A. It didn't take me long to recognize Eddie's style. It didn't need introduction... Those crazy pinch harmonics at the end of the solo are killer! Well done, Loïc!

The crazy thing is a lot of van halen songs could be guitar instrumentals with the intricate guitar work . Then we have the vocals with Roth singing over top of effectively a great big solo . How could it possibly work I don’t know but it does and it’s crazy perfect . That’s van halen .

Believe me you're not alone first time I heard this song it blew my mind and was wondering what album this song came from. Little did I know the album I was listening to was the actual album it came from. And then I looked for it live but never found it and was very sad about it.

I can tell that this tune is the product of countless hours of noodling or sonic exploration, and assembling bit and pieces like mini songs within the song. You can tell that he would hang on to a riff for years before polishing it and releasing it. You can see that when you hear him play the basic structure of a tune, years before it was released when he visited Jason Becker in his home. ( I forgot the name of the song, but it struck me)

Gotta say, that was fun to watch my man! EVH never got enough credit for his rhythm and riff writing(understandable when his pyrotechnics on the solos literally changed guitar playing forever), but I think this is a fantastic example of his talents in that area. Kudos for the cover! 🤘😁🤘

Any musician who plays well can copy Eddie's songs with some time and practice. Only Eddie could dig deep inside of himself and write these songs. I can't believe that he isn't with us anymore. 😔 I hope Wolfgang, will one day go into the 5150 studio and bless us with new songs that his dad wrote,but didn't release. Thanks! I am trying to be as accurate as possible and this one wasn't easy. VH is like a classical composer he just plays notes when he feels it instead of following the rhythm and hit the notes when they're "supposed" and expected to be played

This is one my most favorite VH songs. Very underrated, quite rare to hear. Your guitar work is simply awesome, probably the best I’ve heard, even though there are precious few covers of this song. 🙂👍👍👍 Just a segue now - I am a 54 year old Tech startup CEO and I am in the process of getting my startup to the next stage by getting funding. Once I do, I have promised myself that I will learn to play the Guitar. Electric Guitar. I may never reach your skills, but I will enjoy trying to get there. 🙂

I like it ! Eddie used a Steinberger with a trans trem system when he wrote and recorded this song, I remember trying to use a capo on the second fret play then take it off and put it back on when the pitch changed back in the day.

Holy Hell! Totally spot on - How long did it take to learn this? I'm a drummer and this is one of my all-time favorite songs to drum to. When I ask the guitar players to learn this, I just get "The Look" - Like "Are you F'n Crazy?"

You can get the same effect with a whammy pedal. Not as cool as the trans trem but since no one makes ones anymore they cost a freaking fortune and are a huge pain in the ass to setup
